摘 要 院校研究是近些年来我国高等院校普遍关注的一项工作，要做好这项工作必须建立在对其本质、内容有着明晰认知的基础上，再通过实践不断更新、深化认知，西安科技大学就是循着这样一条路径，积极推进学校的院校研究工作，对学校的发展规划编制和重大问题的解决都起到了积极的作用。

Abstract Institutional research is a work that has attracted widespread attention in universities and colleges in China in recent years. To do this work must be based on a clear understanding of the nature and content of the work， and continue to update and deepen understanding through practice. Xi'an University of Science and Technology is following such a path and actively promoting the research work of the colleges and universities. It has played an active role in the formulation of the school's development planning and the resolution of major issues.

隨着我国高等教育事业的不断发展，每一项高等教育领域里的宏观性变革都会对高等院校产生极大的影响，越来越大的办学自主权伴随着愈演愈烈的生存竞争同时存在。院校研究（Institutional Research，简称IR）作为现代高等院校管理科学化的重要手段，能够有效提升高校运用办学自主权提高办学质量的能力，越来越被国内高校管理层所重视。西安科技大学在对院校研究进行深入探讨的基础上，不断地在办学实践中推行、完善院校研究工作，同时又在实践中继续加深对院校研究的认识。

1 知——“院校研究”的源起与特征

1.1 内涵及源起

“院校研究”发端于美国，是由专门的研究人员运用特定的方法对高等院校进行的科学化研究，是为学校的管理决策服务的一种专门的咨询研究，其根本宗旨是为学校解决发展过程中出现的问题提供有效参考。院校研究的根源可追溯到1701年马瑟父子为建立耶鲁学院而进行的学校“管理模式”研究，之后随着美国高等教育的精英教育、大……
