摘 要：建构特色文化软实力是当代全球竞争的重大战略之一，并已成为国家地域生产力的重要组成部分。从文化分析的视角回溯苏南区域现代化建设过程中“文化自觉”在思想启迪和模式创新方面发挥的重要作用，并指出其日渐成为抑制现代城市社会增长的障碍。“城市文化自觉”的建构是苏南乃至当代中国城市实现功能转型以及深化区域现代化的重大战略问题：一是将树立特色文化城市定位观作为解决城市结构性问题的切入点；二是注重城市创意阶级和空间场域的有机互动，培育“城市文化资本”①再生产的基础；三是城乡和区域“文化圈—产业链”以及全球文化产业价值链高端介入模式的双重建构。苏州作为区域经济首位城市不仅应依托“国家级现代化示范区”发挥文化自觉的样本效应，更应注重如何承担中国文化的传承者与守望者的时代重任，探索出以特色城市文化引领中国现代化发展的独特模式。

Abstract： Constructing the characteristic cultural soft power has been one of the most important strategies in the contemporary global competition， and became the element of national and regional productivity. From cultural viewpoint， this paper mainly analyze the role of cultural consciousness， which has the effect on the ideological enlightenment and model innovation in the process of modernization of South of Jiangsu area， however， it has been the obstacle of inhibiting the development of urban society. City cultural consciousness is an important strategic issue in the aspect of promoting the transformation of urban function for South of Jiangsu area and China： The first is that building the orientation idea of characteristic cultural city should be the breakthrough point of solving the structural problems in city； The second is paying close attention to the organic interaction between creative class in urban and spatial field， which is the basis of the reproduction of city cultural capital； The third is the double construction of rural and urban or regional cultural circle and the industrial chain， and the high-end intervention of characteristic cultural city value chain. As the primary economic city in South of Jiangsu area， Suzhou not only show the sample effect based on the first state level modernization demonstration zone in China， but also consider how to assume the responsibility of inheriting and supervising the Chinas traditional culture， eventually exploring a characteristic mode to lead the modern development in China by the characteristic urban culture.
