課堂是教学的主阵地，教材是重要的教学资源。笔者以人教版高中英语必修3为例，探讨如何通过深度挖掘教材，促进学生英语学科核心素养的发展。

一、挖掘文化内涵，渗透文化意识

语言是文化的载体。教师在教学中要充分利用教材提供的鲜活语料，促进学生多元思维的发展，帮助学生通过语言学习获得文化知识。

以B3U1 Festivals Around the World为例。这个单元的阅读语篇分为festivals of the dead、 festivals to honor people、 harvest festivals、 spring festivals四个方面，重点介绍了外国的节日。阅读后，笔者将学生分组，每个小组选一个节日进行介绍。笔者鼓励学生在获取、分析、对比主题信息的过程中，有意识地模仿、运用语篇中的词汇和语句来介绍我国的传统节日。如：对应festivals of the dead，学生可以选择the Qingming festival;对应festivals to honor people，学生可以选择the Dragon Boat festival;对应harvest festivals，学生可以选择the Mid-autumn Day;对应spring festivals，学生可以选择the spring festival。笔者要求小组充分讨论交流后形成定稿，再选出代表在全班展示。

下面是一名学生对the Qingming festival的介绍：

The Qingming Festival， which falls on April the fifth， is a festival to honor our ancestors for us Chinese. On that day， it is a custom for us to go to clean the graves and light incense in memory of our ancestors. In front of the tombs， adults usually offer flowers， food and gifts first， and then we children are asked to follow them to kowtow， praying that our ancestors would bless us with good luck. Some people used to burn paper money and set off firecrackers， which is easy to cause fire and is now forbidden. Now its a public holiday and we are happy to have one day off.

在准备的过程中，学生对清明节习俗的描述可借鉴课文语篇中的“go to clean graves， light incense in memory of ancestors， light lamps， offer food， flowers and gifts to the dead”等短语，但是对磕头、祈求祖先保佑、烧纸钱等表达起来很困难。当学生在提问如何表达“烧纸钱”的时候，笔者顺势引导他们思考这种习俗现在是否合适以及是否安全的问题。笔者从教材入手，围绕单元主题语境，深度挖掘语篇的文化内涵，在教学过程中自然地进行文化渗透。

二、搭建语言支架，发展思维品质

读和写是不可分割的。教师可以结合阅读教学进行写作训练，如读后续写、复述课文、改写课文或者写读后感等。这些活动都可以引发学生主动思考，培养学生的求异思维和创新思维。……
