乔尔·斯普林(Joel Spring，1940—，以下简称斯普林)，美国当代著名教育史学家、多元文化教育家。斯普林于1964年在罗斯福大学(Roosevelt University)获得历史学学士学位；1965年在威斯康星大学(University of Wisconsin)研究社会学及知识史，获得硕士学位；20世纪60年代中后期他的研究兴趣逐渐转向教育领域，于1969年威斯康星大学获教育政策研究的博士学位。他先后在威斯康星大学、辛辛那提大学(University of Cincinnati)、哥伦比亚大学(Columbia University)、纽约州立大学(State University of New York)等校任教，目前是纽约城市大学女王学院(Queens College, City University of New York)的资深教授。

斯普林学术经历丰富，著述甚丰，在他多达20余部的专著、多部合作编写或主编的著作以及数以百计的论文中，涉及多个学科领域——教育史、多元文化教育、教育哲学、美国原住民文化、教育政治学等，并且他的一些作品在美国乃至国际学术界非常有影响力。其代表作有《美国教育》(American Education: An Introduction to Social and Political Aspects, New York: Longman, 1978.
