内容摘要：从1981年开始，国内开始流传“敦煌在中国，敦煌学在日本”的说法，并说这是日本学者藤枝晃在天津南开大学和兰州西北师范学院演讲时说的。实际上，1979年3月23日至4月2日在成都召开的中国历史学规划会议上，就有代表说“敦煌在中国，研究中心在日本”。在藤枝晃来南开大学讲演前夕，吴廷璆教授在1981年4月也说过“敦煌在中国，敦煌学在外国”。当吴廷璆教授主持讲座并介绍藤枝晃教授时，为了突出日本和藤枝晃，就改为“敦煌在中国，敦煌学在日本”了。“敦煌在中国，敦煌学在日本”之说一经流传，在当时那个极具爱国主义和民族主义的时代，从上到下，从官方到民间，从政界到学者，都感到的是气愤、震惊，而没有人去探究它的真实性和客观性。但不可否认，“敦煌在中国，敦煌学在日本”之说的传播，客观上却对我国敦煌学的发展起到了极大的推动作用。

Abstract：Since 1981， the saying“Dunhuang is in China， Dunhuang Studies is in Japan”began to spread through China after being stated by Japanese scholar Akira Fujieda in his speech at Nankai University in Tianjin and Northwest Normal University in Lanzhou. In fact， as early as the Chinese History Planning Conference held in Chengdu from March 23 to April 2， 1979， one representative said，“Dunhuang is in China， while the research center is in Japan.”Prior to Akira Fujiedas lecture at Nankai University， Professor Wu Tingqiu said in April 1981，“Dunhuang is in China， and Dunhuang Studies is abroad.”When Professor Wu Tingqiu introduced Professor Akira Fujieda while presiding over the conference in 1981， his original statement was changed to“Dunhuang is in China， Dunhuang Studies is in Japan”in order to highlight the significance of Japan and Professor Akira Fujieda in the field of Dunhuang Studies. In the patriotic and nationalistic climate of the time， the saying“Dunhuang is in China， Dunhuang Studies is in Japan”spread rapidly through Chinese society， from top to bottom， from officials to citizens， and from the academic world to the political. Many people were deeply angered by the phrase but no one explored the authenticity and objectivity of its source. In retrospect， it can be seen that this phrase had an undeniable part in promoting the development of Dunhuang studies in China.
