摘要软新闻的特点决定了其翻译不单是一个从源语到译入语的语言转换过程，更是一个根据译语文化不断调整，使受众更容易接受的过程。因此，传统的“对等”翻译标准和方法时常会在软新闻的翻译中失效，译者应在翻译过程中以实现译文的预期功能为主要目标，在不同的语境中选取相对最佳的翻译方法。汉语软新闻的翻译实际上是编译的工作，可以通过可删减无效信息、改变表达方式和增加背景解释得以很好地实现。

English Translation of Chinese Soft News

AbstractThe features of soft news decide its translation is not only alinguistic conversion betweenSourceLanguage（SL） and Target Language （TL）， but often a specialized adjustment process depending on the target culture， which makes the translation more acceptable for target readers.So，the traditional translation criteria and techniques sometimes come to failure in soft news translation. Focusing on the study of soft news translation from Chinese into English， this thesis concludes the specific methods of editing translation and the applications through analyzing some texts.

改革开放以来，中西方交流日益频繁。在中国了解世界的同时，世界各国也把目光转向了正在蓬勃发展的中国。新闻翻译则成为中国和西方国家相互了解的重要途径，而软新闻凭借自己的独具特色也在中外交流中发挥着越来越重要的作用。汉语软新闻的英译不仅能让世界了解中国文化，同时还能在异国文化中彰显中国优秀传统文化的自信。本文根据软新闻的自身特点总结出其翻译标准，对软新闻翻译的编译方法及其运用做出了具体的归纳和总结，并依次进行了例证，旨在更好地指导翻译实践，促进跨文化交流。

1软新闻的特性

从性质来看，新闻的种类分为“硬新闻”和“软新闻”。软新闻的首先是新闻，因此，诸如用词别致、句式丰富、布局讲究、善用修辞等新闻的基本特征在软新闻的问题中必定会有体现；同时，像一般的新闻一样，软新闻的文章结构层次较为分明，常用被动语态来突出重点。……
