[摘 要]长期以来，西方环境危机根源问题一直是生态文化领域争论不休的热门话题，如何界定之，很难有一个统一的定论。本文从生态文化的角度出发，结合大量的史实，从社会生活的各个方面详细分析了古希腊罗马人征服和奴役自然的行为，从而得出西方环境危机根源并非基督化所导致的结论。无论如何，古希腊罗马环境史是一部古代西方人主宰和统治自然的历史，研究其间落后的文化现象，可为人类生态文明的进步繁荣提供诸多警醒与反思。

Title： An Analysis of the Origin of Western Environmental Crisis

Abstract： The origin of western environmental crisis has long been a hot controversial topic in the field of eco-culture. No unanimous conclusion can be easily drawn as to this topic. The paper， from the perspective of eco-culture， in combination with substantial historical findings， explores how ancient Greeks and Romans conquered and exploited nature so that a conclusion can be made that the western environmental crisis doesnt result from Christianization. Anyway environmental history of ancient Greece and Rome features dominance and rule of nature by ancient westerners， overflowing with bloodshed and violence. Therefore， studies on this backward culture can serve as admonition and reflection for the progress and prosperity of human eco-civilization.

一、前言

20世纪60年代，人类面临环境危机的现实开始进入西方公众视野，这种危机正日益成为人类繁衍生存和社会进步的巨大障碍。许多时髦词汇如“环境”、“环境意识”、“环境保护”、“环境政策”等在欧美国家纷纷出现，并风靡全球。80年代，环境危机在西方得以缓解之后，在公众舆论中产生了一系列关于危机产生根源深层次的思考：环境危机究竟从何而来？……
