Step 1.Warming-up and leading-in(略)

Step 2.Pre-reading

1.Show a picture of Helen Keller.Guess and say: Who is she?

2.Chant and answer the questions.

(1)What couldn’t she do?

(2)What could she do?

设计意图:这两个句子是本课的重点句型,让学生反复操练,并说出“She couldn’t see.She couldn’t hear.”然后板书。

Step 3.While-reading

1.Read Paragraph 1 and answer the questions.

(1)When was Helen Keller born?

(2)Where was Helen Keller born?

(3)What happened to her?

设计意图:学生通过问题引导,提取文本的基本信息。

2.Read and choose.Read Paragraph 2 and 3, choose the right answers.

(1)Who helped Helen Keller?

(2)What did she do for Helen Keller?

(3)What did Helen Keller learn to do?

设计意图:学生带着问题阅读课文,更能发挥学习的自主性。通过模仿“She drew letters in Helen’s hand”,体会海伦的艰辛,从而理解“She’s a role model for blind people and also for you and me.”理解课文,升华情感。

3.Read and fill in the blanks.

Read Paragraph 4 and get to know why Helen Keller is a role model.

设计意图:通过阅读填空,训练学生梳理基本信息的能力,提升对文本关键信息的分析思考能力。

Step 4.Post-reading.

1.Try to describe Helen Keller’s life.

2.Show the picture of Zhong Nanshan and introduce him.

3.Make a card about a famous person and talk to the class about him/her.

设计意图:联系当今社会,面对突如其来的新冠疫情,涌现出多少无名英雄。他们是我们的骄傲,是我们学习的榜样。这样适当增加信息输入,强化深化主题,达到学以致用、学科育人的目的。

第一,响应现代职业教育决策,以应用型技术技能型人才为培养目标。独立学院要尝试错位培养,符合应用型技术大学的特点,培养的技术技能型人才能够面向生产一线,具备熟练的操作能力和职业技能,走上岗位可以直接创造生产力。

These famous men and women are strong and optimistic,positive and sunny.They are role models for us.Let’s learn from them.

设计意图:通过分享北京冬残奥会上奥运健儿们英姿飒爽的精彩瞬间,特别是我国运动健儿的出色表现,教育学生运动健儿是凭着坚强的意志、乐观的心态和积极向上的精神克服种种困难而战胜自我、超越自我的。

Step 6.Homework

1.Retell the story.

设计意图:作业任选其一,以适合不同能力层次学生的需要。

Helen Keller was born in the US in 1880.

As a baby, she became blind and deaf.

She drew letters in Helen’s hand and taught her to spell.

She learnt to read, write and speak.

She is a role model for blind people and also for you and me.
