OnLiangQichao’sWanderingbetweenPoliticsandLearningPursuit

(by ZHANG Hong-jie)

Abstract: On the eve of his trip to Europe, Liang Qichao decided to give up politics and “make a little contribution from the ideological circle”. He wanted to “devote all his efforts to the educational cause with a view to cultivating the Chinese nation’s practical foundation”. However, not long after, his political enthusiasm revived and he claimed that political movement “cannot be delayed for a moment”. Liang Qichao’s mood at this time was ambivalent: He wanted to devote himself to the development of culture and education, but he could not abandon politics. The causes for this contradiction were his passion for saving the country and the notion of pursuing knowledge of practical use to society. Before and after his European trip, Liang’s wandering between scholarship and politics explained the inner tension of scholarship and politics.

ResearchonGuangdong’sFemaleCiPoetsintheQingDynasty

(by DENG Miao-ci)

Abstract: In the Qing Dynasty, there emerged a number of female ci poets in Guangdong. 19 women ci poets have been discovered who authored over 200 ci poems, most of which belonged in the boudoir style. Their creations were dominated by short lyrics though longer ones became increasingly popular. They diversified the expressive function and styles of boudoir poetry and reflected the inheritance and breakthrough of the traditional boudoir poetry. The causes for the breakthrough were related to the literary accumulation of the previous generations, the general mood of the poetry circles in the Qing Dynasty and the scholarly temperament of the female poets in Guangdong at that time. The literary value of Guangdong’s women ci poetry in the Qing Dynasty lies in that it filled a vacuum, and its cultural significance lies in that it displayed the daily life and communication changes of Guangdong’s women in the Qing Dynasty, and that it even played a role in preserving history.

(by JIANG Lin-li)

Abstract: Farmers are the most extensive participants in the development of low-carbon agriculture and the most important micro basis. Giving full play to farmers will help accelerate the progress of low-carbon agriculture. Based on the data of a questionnaire survey of 1114 rice farmers in Hubei Province, this study adopted the multi-group structural equation model analysis method to explore the moderating effect of rice farmers’ heterogeneity on their low-carbon production behavior decisions. The results show that young and middle-aged males with a higher education level, multiple occupations, a short duration in farming life or multiple identities are superior to other groups in one or more dimensions in terms of low carbon awareness, environmental awareness, value perception, self-efficacy, low carbon production intention and low carbon production behavior. Moreover, there are significant differences in the decision-making mechanism of low-carbon production behavior among different types of rice farmers.

ResearchontheImprovementofTranslators’MultipleCompetencesBasedonExternalizedKnowledge

(by JI Hong-qing, CHEN Miao-lin, CHEN Xing-xin)

Abstract: A translators’ Multiple Competences are an important indicator of his comprehensive translation ability. The improvement of the multiple competences requires improvement of both internalized and externalized knowledge on the part of the translator. An empirical study of the translation ability of students majoring in translation shows that when students have mastered systematic and sufficient internalized knowledge, their multiple competences will be more stable but difficult to be further improved. Breaking through this bottleneck mainly depends on students’ absorption and grasp of externalized knowledge, and the expansion of externalized knowledge is in direct proportion to the improvement of the multiple competences in translating.

KeyWords: Externalized knowledge; Internalized knowledge; Multiple competences in translating
