1. due adj. 预期;预定;预计

后引出预期的时间、地点等。

Her baby is due next month. 她的宝宝预计在下个月出生。

The meeting is due to start at 3：30. 会议预定3：30开始。

2. towards prep. 朝;向;对着

They were heading towards the German border. 他们正前往德国边界。

【辨析】 towards， to

towards只表示“向着某个方向”，没有“到达”之意。

She walked towards the river. 她朝着那条河走去。

to常跟在动词go， come， return， move等之后，表示“向，往”，有“到达”之意。

He moved to Beijing last year. 去年他搬到了北京。

3. abroad adv. 在国外;到国外

at home and abroad 在国内外;go abroad 出国

We heard that he went abroad recently. 我们听说他最近出国了。

【注意】

abroad不能与in， to， at等介词连用，其前也不加冠词，但可与介词from连用。

4. success n. 成功

6. yet， still & already

（1） yet用于疑问句、否定句中，表示“到此时，至今，尚，还”，常用于现在完成时中，位于句末。

He has not come yet. 他还没有来。

yet用于肯定句表示“还，仍然，依然”，相当于still，但yet具有强烈的感情色彩。

My son is sleeping yet. 我儿子还在睡觉。（暗示别大声说话）

（2） still意为“仍然，還”，表示某事正在进行中或正在某过程中，多用于进行时和一般现在时的肯定句或疑问句中。still还可用来修饰比较级。

They are still talking in the room. 他们还在房间里谈话。

He is still more careful. 他还是那么小心谨慎。

（3） already意为“已经”，多用于肯定句中，一般放在实义动词前或助动词、be动词后。若位于句末表示强调。

The train has already left. 火车已经开走了。

already也可用于疑问句中，含有“惊奇”之意，可以置于句中，有时为了强调置于句末。……
