Unit 1  Weak Tina travelled to Enjoy Chinese Festival

Tina， an American girl， was weak but love reading. One day she read a book about festivals. From the book she knew about a wide range of the features and origins， most of which reflected religious beliefs and faiths of different nations. Besides， she found that Harvest Festival is connected with agriculture. People in many countries celebrate Harvest Festival and are grateful to the life after gathering the crops. In terms of Christmas， western people go to churches which are beautifully decorated to sing Charistmas carol. But some businessmen took the advantage of the media and made some festivals commericial， which was horrible. In spite of this， festivals are significant. Tina thought the most typical festival was Chinese Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first lunar month， when people dress up with joy， and march on the street， guessing riddles. She longed to visit China though her health was fading away.

She set off for China， where she absolutely enjoyed the  atmosphere of Chinese festivals， especially Naadam Festival in Inner Mogolian Autonomous Region. People were merry on the eve of the festival. On that day players wrestled in special robes. A man with good figure called John won the game， given an eagle as the prize. Tina clapped loudly for him even though many people went off. The moment John saw Tina， he found her familiar.

After knowing each other， they found they had a lot in common. John invited Tina to attend his wedding. On that occassion， Tina observed many people wearing fancy costumes to express congratuations. They gave John red envelopes containing money， which represent their good wishes. Tina had tasty hot pot. Before returning to USA， Tina taught the Johns how to roast the trukey， make American pudding and mashed potatoes， In brief， respecting local cultures， Tina travelled merrily.

弱女子游歷中国为过中国节

美国姑娘蒂娜身体弱但她喜欢读书。有一天，她读了一本有关节日的书。从书中，她了解到它们一系列的特点和起源;大部分的起源都反映了不同民族的宗教信仰和信念。并且她意识到丰收节跟农业有关。不同国家的人在收割了庄稼后都庆祝丰收节和感激生活。就圣诞节而言，西方人去装饰得很漂亮的教堂唱圣诞颂歌。但是一些商人利用媒体，把一些节日弄得很商业化;这是很恐怖的。尽管这样，节日是有意义的。她认为最典型的是中国的节日如农历正月15的元宵节;在这个节日里，人们高兴地穿上盛装，在大街上游行，猜谜语。虽然她的身体逐渐变弱，但是她希望去中国。

她出发了来到中国，在中国她确实享受到中国节日的气氛，特别是内蒙古自治区的“那达慕”大会。在这个节日的前一夜，人们就很高兴。在那一天，运动员穿着特别的衣袍在摔跤。一个身材很好的叫做约翰的男人赢得了比赛，被授予了一个雕作为奖品。尽管很多人离开了但蒂娜仍为他大声地鼓掌。当约翰一看到蒂娜的时候，他觉得她很面熟。

彼此认识后，他们发现他们有很多的共同点。约翰邀请蒂娜参加他的婚礼。在那个场合，蒂娜观察到很多人穿着精致的服装去祝贺。他们给约翰一个含有钱的红色的信封，这代表他们的美好祝愿。蒂娜品尝到了美味的火锅。蒂娜回美国之前教约翰夫妇怎么烤火鸡，做美国布丁和土豆泥。……
