Abstract As the rapid development of "internet+" epoch， machines in which all kinds of technologies are embodied brings about a huge impact on foreign language education， hence， some people in China doubt the usefulness of foreign language teachers， and even assert that foreign language teachers would be replaced by the machine. The condition of foreign language teachers' existence has been confronted and threatened with unprecedented challenges. This paper， through the ways of questionnaire and interview， tries to seek what those challenges are （mainly， enormous resources and various way of learning）， reaches a conclusion that foreign languages teachers， like those in other disciplines， will not be replaced by the machines since teachers possess the advantages that the machines don't have， like emotional communication. The paper then discusses which direction is the right one to go out of the maze， namely， trying to promote teachers in their knowledge， skills and humanistic literacy; developing teacher education; carrying out the idea of lifelong learning; accelerating the integration of online & offline courses. It is hoped to make a helpful contribution for the career of foreign language education.

1 問题的提出

近年来，随着互联网在教育领域的迅猛发展，慕课、微课大量产生，学生可以在网上选课，修学分，并获得证书。还有些基于互联网开发的应用终端，可以为学生提供海量练习，学生可以根据自己的需要进行选择，并且可以从网络上得到分析解答。在外语教学领域，学生的学习在听说读写译各方面都充斥着互联网信息技术的影子。有人甚至断言，外语教师以后不再需要了。[1]除此之外，当今计算机人工智能的发展，有报道甚至认为人工智能在同声传译领域的发展会让很多翻译人员失业，外语教师将不能幸免。[2]2018年9月一名中国传媒大学生英语系新生写信给校长廖忠祥说，人工智能正在“入侵”翻译领域，自己的梦想马上就会毫无价值，因此想要转系转专业。在信中，她同时建议学校取消外语专业。根据麦肯锡的数据，未来20年，全球一半的工作岗位都将被取代。由此，引发了一个重要的问题：“未来外语教师会被机器所取代吗？”这个问题到底是杞人忧天，还是形势紧迫？这是关系外语教师生存的问题，不可小觑。

2 研究设计

2.1 研究对象

调查对象包括湖南、广东、湖北、重庆、辽宁、浙江、广西等地区的外语教师、其他专业教师、学校管理人员、校外工作人员和在校学生，共194名。

2.2 研究手段

作者在网上发放问卷调查，非量化的问卷与访谈类似。[3]所设计的问卷内容包括结构性问题和开放性问题两类共5个问题。……
