摘 要 图书馆为读者提供静谧舒适的阅读空间，是阅读推广活动最基本的场所。尊重个体独立的阅读自由，正是构成图书馆阅读推广活动的基本认同。提供阅读，是图书馆各项活动的立足点和出发点。图书馆的阅读推广活动，是图书馆各项活动的核心组成，应该立志于缓解人们的精神束缚，让他们以自由之身，从事自在阅读，追寻自我精神。

Abstract The library provides quiet and comfortable reading space for the readers， which is the most basic place for reading promotion activities. Respecting individual independent reading freedom is the basic recognition of library reading promotion activities. Reading service is the foothold and starting point of all the activities of the library. The reading promotion activity of the library is the core composition of the various activities of the library， which should be determined to relieve the peoples spiritual bondage， so that they will be free to read and pursue their own spirits.

宋人汪洙在《神童诗》 开篇即曰：“天子重英豪，文章教尔曹；万般皆下品，惟有读書高。”几乎高度概括了古代中国社会对阅读的定位和意义。古代传统的智识阶层将“天子”“英豪”“文章”“读书”作了关联解析，自然而然地认为“读书入仕”才是人间正道。无怪乎清代金缨在《格言联璧》 中辑录：“古今来许多世家，无非积德；天地间第一人品，还是读书。”这似是对读书的最高褒奖，又像是对阅读的最大误会。难道，读书就是为了功名利禄？难道，读书就能高人一等？对此，我们该如何从功利与非功利角度认知开展阅读推广的目的和价值呢？

1 阅读的真谛

借鉴美国心理学家马斯洛关于人的需要层次理论，笔者认为，人的阅读大致可以分为“知道”“知识”“知行”“知性”“智慧”五个层次。阅读首先是满足自己的社会生活需要，其次是满足自己的求知需要，再者是满足自己的行为、爱的需要，最后是满足自己的精神家园。阅读的真谛，是借助外在的文字或经验感悟人生，体验生命的过程。……
