广州亚运体育文化中心的设计宗旨是建筑与周边环境的和谐共生。曲线型的建筑造型给人以强烈的运动感，屋面相互搭扣，既有倾斜也有上翘，运用建筑造型去诠释“体育是友谊的纽带”这一主题。流畅的曲线，轻巧灵动的造型，寓意各国运动健儿在“亚运”友谊纽带之下，和谐共处。考虑到周边高层建筑林立，设计尤其重视第五立面的展现，使立面同天面有自然顺畅的过渡。

建筑空间布局采用岭南建筑常用的内庭院式，体现了开放、亲切、简洁、现代、典雅、大方的特点，在围合的院落空间里，充分考虑了室内的景观视线、自然通风和自然采光。底层建筑局部架空，向内庭院和广场开敞，其敞门、敞窗、敞廊、敞厅和敞梯，既形成景观视线通廊，也引入东南季风，适合南方的气候特点，减少了建筑能耗。□

The designing philosophy of the project is the harmonious coexistence of the architecture and its environment. In our design, we used the curve shape of the building to demonstrate the theme of "sports being the ties of friendship". All the smooth curves and lively forms were employed to send the message of the harmony of Asian communities under the in fl uence of the Asian Games.

In its spatial layout, it contains an inner courtyard, as typical of the style common in architecture of South China. Its outer appearance features openness, geniality, simplicity, modernity,elegance, and gracefulness. In the enclosed space of the courtyard, much consideration is given to the view, natural ventilation and natural lighting.

The partially open fl oor of the building allows it to open to the inner courtyard and the square, forming a view corridor and bringing in the southeast monsoon, fit for the climate in South China and efficient in saving energy.□
