Analysis on the Psychological Basis of Virtues and the Essence of Moral Sentimentalism

There is a divergence between rationalism and sentimentalism about what is the psychological basis of virtue or even morality.However,both of the two schools have their preferences.In fact,the basis of morality lies in human nature.The different aspects of morality originate respectively from different potentials of human nature,such as,reason,emotion,volition,and behavior,while different potentials can be actualized into different actual capacities,constituting the psychological basis of different aspects of morality.The psychological basis of moral character(including virtue)is volition and moral character is the result of accumulated volitional activities which work as the comprehensive regulation function of human beings.Emotionalism mistakenly regards emotion as the origin of virtue or even morality and the crucial reason lies in that emotionalism identifies moral emotions with morality.

Yin and yang,an ancient Chinese philosophical idea,is a fundamental Chinese idea.In ancient China,sentimentalists such as Mencius and Wang Yangming never take yin and yang as the basis of their moral theories,not even embellish them.But I find that the idea of yin and yang can lay a desirable foundation for western sentimentalism originated in eighteenth-century,the Confucian sentimentalism and neo-Confucian sentimentalism.I consider yin/yang as generating mechanism of sentiments.Yang represents the projection of sentiment,and yin represents the reception of sentiment.An emphasis on receptivity can gradually turn into a belief in the normative significance of yin and yang and change the ethics of sentimentalism into normative sentimentalism.

New Perspective on Smith and the Facts of Moral Virtues

Based on moral metaphysics and epistemology of virtue,both Smith and Hume hold that moral evaluative perspective is best captured by that of the spectator,not of the deliberator.After evaluating these two perspectives,the paper holds that within the strategy for accounting for moral truth,we need to adopt the evaluator’s perspective to account for judgments of virtue in which,for example,moral excellences split from epistemic or intellectual excellences.However,when we are making moral evaluation or exploring moral normativity,moral constructivism has a more extensive perspective.It proposes that the perspective of deliberator is much better than spectator perspective.

Contribution and Tribulation:Analysis on the Pluralist Interpretations of the Essence of Mingbian during the Past Two Decades

In the field of mingbian studies,an ancient Chinese discourse on name and debate,the logicization of mingbian has lost its paradigmatic status since the middle of 1990s.The interpretation of the essence of mingbian enters into a stage of pluralist approaches.The pluralist interpretations carry the diversity of research methods forward,make explicit the obscurity of the multiple connotations of mingbian,and impel the scholars to rethink the relationship between mingbian and ancient Chinese logic.Meanwhile,the pluralist interpretations of the essence of mingbian also introduce some questions that should be dealt with seriously.For example,is mingbian itself established or becoming?Is the essence of mingbian one or many?What is the relationship among the pluralist interpretations?This article argues that it would be prudent to pay more attention to the historyof mingbian and its multiple connotations rather than the simple determination of so called the essence of mingbian.

Li Zehou establishes the “subjectivity practice aesthetics”system with the anthropological ontology philosophy as the basement,which is both a kind of “philosophy aesthetics”and “Marxist Aesthetics”,and even “Anthropology ontology aesthetics”.As the humanistic ideas of high fit with an atmosphere of“thought liberation”culture,it leads and promotes cultural enlightenment in the 1980s,the liberation of humanity and the reflection of fate timely.As an interactive production between Chinese and Western thought and culture,it has also been recognized by the authority of the world's aesthetics,provided the possibility for grasping the destiny of mankind in the 21st century,spread the Chinese culture to the world and the Chinese and Western in-depth cultural communications.Although it has been the subject of academic questions and criticisms,to its credit,it transcends the particular framework of “Western Aesthetics in China”,and creates the unique discourse system,the modern“Chinese Aesthetics”,which lays the constructive foundation and developmental directions of Chinese contemporary aesthetic,trains and affects a large number of aesthetic researchers,and occupies an important position in the history of Chinese modern aesthetics.

Although Tao Yuanming did not adhere to Heavenly Master Sect of Taoism,he accepted the ideology of the Immortal Sect of Taoism to some extent and practised it as well.After practicing for comparatively a long period of time,Tao Yuanming finally formed the life value of“following the operation of Nature”.Having a correct understanding of Tao’s ideas and beliefs has great significance in studying his path of life comprehensively and interpreting his poems correctly.

There is a famous headnote in the first chapter of Jiaxu edition of The Story of the Stone:wish that god would recreate Cao Xueqin(the author of the book)and Zhi Yan Zhai(the first critic of the book).The academia has been trying to change the words to seek for a solution,but still cannot reach a consensus.Investigating this problem through“e-criticism”,it is common to find dating method in ancient poems.On the basis of a lot of cases,it can be speculated that“Jia Wu Ba Ri”maybe the abbreviation of the 8thday of the first lunar month or the 8thday of the eighth lunar month.

Historical Review on the Confucian Role of YOU Ruo and His Thinking and Practicing Mode in Confucianism

Although there is a certain dispute about whether You Ruo is the disciple of Confucius and whether he has ever presided over the affairs in Confucian and the compilation of The Analects of Confucius,a consensus has been reached that he had a comparatively high status in Confucian.According to the historical documents about You Ruo,You Ruo has his own thinking directions,which are mainly thinking of analogy,discussing benevolence in accordance with etiquette,balancing the flexibility of the set of etiquette and concerning about statecraft.
