汉语中的“一……就……”句式在英语中有多种表达方式，现将几种常用的表达方式归纳如下：

一、连词

1. as soon as

Ill ring you up as soon as I get a reply from Lucy. 我一得到露西的答复就给你打电话。

As soon as he got well， he went back to school. 他病一好就回去上学了。

2. no sooner... than...

She had no sooner gone to bed than the telephone rang. 她刚一上床睡觉，电话铃就响了。

No sooner had I left my home than it began to rain. 我刚一离开家，天就下雨了。

注意：no sooner位于句首时，前一个分句要用倒装语序。

3. hardly/ scarcely... when...

I had hardly reached the airport when the plane took off. 我刚一到达机场，飞机就起飞了。

Hardly/ scarcely had I explained when he said he still didnt understand. 我刚刚解释完，他就说他仍然不明白。

注意：当hardly/ scarcely位于句首时，前一个分句要用倒装语序。

4. directly/ instantly （ =as soon as）

We get up directly the bell rings. 铃一响，我们就起床。

He made for the door directly he heard the knock. 一听到敲门声，他就跑去开门了。

I recognized her instantly I saw her. 我一见到她就认出她了。

He telephoned his mother instantly he arrived in London. 他一到达伦敦就给他妈妈打电话。

5. the instant/ minute/ moment （that） （ =as soon as）

The girl began to cry the instant she read the letter. 那女孩一读那封信就哭了起来。

Ill tell my daughter about it the minute she comes back home. 当我女儿一回到家，我就把这件事告诉她。

The moment I began to speak， he cut in. 我一开始说话，他就插嘴。

The soldiers rushed out of the room the moment they heard a cry for help. 战士们一听到呼救声就冲出了房间。

二、介词

1. at

The engineer saw at a glance what was wrong. 工程师一眼就看出毛病在哪里。

2. on

On his return he was greeted by a large crowd. 他一回来就受到一大群人的欢迎。

3. with

With the first appearance of the sun， the birds began to sing. 太阳一出来，鸟儿就开始歌唱。
