复合句中充当条件状语的句子叫条件状语从句。由if（如果;假如）引导的条件状语从句是非常重要的一种句式，它表示假如从句动作发生，主句动作会接着发生，着重谈论可能出现的情况。例如：

If you practise the guitar for two hours every day， you will learn it soon.

如果你每天练吉他2小时，你很快就能学会它。

一、if引导的条件状语从句的位置

if引导的条件状语从句可以位于主句之前，也可以位于主句之后。如果从句在前，从句与主句之间要用逗号隔开。

结构1：“if引导的条件状语从句 + 主句”。例如：

If I’m free this Saturday， I’ll go shopping with you. 如果本周六我有空，我会和你一起去买东西。

结构2：“主句 + if引导的条件状语从句”。例如：

I’ll go shopping with you if I’m free this Saturday. 如果本周六我有空，我会和你一起去买东西。

二、if引导的条件状语从句的时态

在含if引导的条件状语从句的复合句中，主从句的时态通常遵循以下规则：

1. 主句是一般将来时，从句常用一般现在时。例如：

If you ask him， he will help you. 如果你请求他，他会帮助你的。

2. 主句的谓语含can， may， must等情态动词时，从句常用一般现在时。例如：

If you send the letter now， he may get it the day after tomorrow.

如果你现在寄出这封信，他后天就可能收到。

We must get up early if we want to catch the early bus.

如果我们想赶上早班公交车，我们必须很早起床。

3. 主句是祈使句时，从句常用一般现在时。例如：

Please buy a bag of salt if you go to the supermarket. 如果你去超市，请买一袋盐。

注意：

在含if引导的条件状语从句的复合句中，如果句意表示客观事实或者真理，则主、从句时态都要用一般现在时。例如：

It turns into ice if you cool water. 如果你冷却水，它就会变成冰。

三、if引导的条件状语从句的转换

转换1：含有if条件句的复合句，当主句主语和从句主语均为you时，可转换为“祈使句， and / or + 简单句”结构。其中and表示顺承关系，or表示转折关系。例如：

If you work harder， you’ll pass the exam. →Worker harder， and you’ll pass the exam.

如果你再努力些，就会通过考试。

If you don’t hurry up， you’ll be late for the meeting. →Hurry up， or you’ll be late for the meeting.

如果你不快点，你开会就要迟到了。

转换2：含有if条件句的复合句，可转换为带有with或without的介词短语的句子。例如：

If there is no water， all the living things can’t live. →All the living things can’t live without water.

离开水，所有的生物不能生存。

转换3：含有if条件句的复合句，有时可与unless引导的条件句相互转换，但必须注意句式的变换，其中unless...相当于if...not...结构。例如：

Unless you leave at once， you will be late. →If you do not leave at once， you will be late.

如果你不马上走，你就会迟到。

1. You need to practise speaking every day you hope to improve your spoken English.
