The Nine-colour Deer lives by the Ganges River(恒河). It is very kind and helpful. Look! The Deer is playing games. Suddenly, there is a cry for help(呼救声).
Tiao Da(调达): Help! Help!
Rabbit: Listen! Someone is calling for help.
The Deer: Look! A man is in the river. I must help him.
Crow: You cant go. You will be found.
The Deer: It doesnt matter. Life is more important.
The kind-hearted(善良的) deer jumps into the river and saves Tiao Da.
Tiao Da: Thank you!
The Deer: Its my pleasure(荣幸).
Tiao Da: You give me a second life. You are my owner(主人) now!
The Deer: Dont mention it! Go back to your home.
Tiao Da: How can I repay(回报) you?
The Deer: Please remember(记住), dont let anyone know where I am.
Tiao Da: I will never tell anyone. I swear(发誓)!
The King loves his Queen very much. One day, the Queen hears of a beautiful deer. Its fur has nine colours!
The Queen: My King, I heard of a magic deer. Its so beautiful. I want it!
The King: Why?
The Queen: I want to use its colourful fur to make a new coat.
The King: But, where is the Deer?
The Queen: I dont know. But I just want it. Please!
The King: OK...OK...
Then, a notice of catching the Deer is posted(公布). Tiao Da sees the notice and hurries to see the King.
Tiao Da: My King, Ive met the magic deer before.
The King: Really?
Tiao Da: I can lead you there.
The King: Fine.
Its a fine day. The Nine-colour Deer is sleeping. The King and the Queen, with their army, go to the forest.
Crow: Wake up, wake up! My Deer!
The Deer: What happened?
Crow: A lot of soldiers(士兵) are coming!
Rabbit: Run away quickly! I heard soldiers talking about catching you.
The Deer: Why?
Crow: Dont talk! Just run away!
Tiao Da and the army arrive(到達) at the place.
Crow: My King, we cant find the Deer anywhere.
The King: Tiao Da! You lied(说谎)?
Tiao Da: My King, I dare not(不敢). Please trust me.
