【词语精讲】

1. newspaper n.

（1） newspaper意为“报纸”，是可数名词。“在报纸上”用英语可表示为“in the / a newspaper”，不能用介词on。我们日常所说的晨报/晚报是morning / evening newspapers。如：

She likes collecting old newspapers. 她喜欢收集旧报纸。

（2） newspaper是由news和paper构成的合成词，合成词是一种重要的构词法，对我们记忆单词很有帮助。如：

bed + room→ bedroom 卧室

class + room→classroom 教室

head + phone→headphone 耳机

police + man→policeman 警察

basket + ball→basketball 篮球

2. movie n.

movie是名词，意为“电影”。go to the movies 意为“去看电影”，同义短语有go to the cinema， go to see a film。如：

I often go to the movies with my classmates on weekends. 周末我經常和我的同学们去看电影。

辨析：movie和film

movie是美式英语，the movies 指电影院;go to the movies是美式英语的“去看电影”。

film是英式英语，英式英语中去看电影是“go to the cinema / go to see a film”。如：

Spirited Away is a classic film. 《千与千寻》是一部经典电影。

3. use v.

use用作动词，意为“使用”。它的形容词形式为useful，意为“有用的”。如：

More and more people are using the Internet.  越来越多的人在使用互联网。

Learning English is very useful. 学英语是非常有用的。

拓展：use还可用作名词，意为“用途，用处”。如：

I have the use of the key this week. 钥匙本周归我使用。

4. race n.

race 指赛跑、赛车、游泳等与速度相关的比赛，而它的近义词game则指球类、棋类等体育比赛，多需通过盘数获胜。如：

Their horse came third in the race last year.  他们的马在去年的比赛中获得了第三名。

Lets have a race to the end of the beach.  咱们比赛跑到海滩的那一头。

5. any adj.

any 通常与单数名词连用。常见短语：any other 意为“其他任何一个;任何其他的”， 指在同一范围内除了某人或某物以外的其他任何人或物，其后接单数名词。如：

Call me if you have any problems. 如果你有任何问题就给我打电话。

Ill take any you dont want. 你不要的我随便拿一个。

You can come any day. 你哪天来都行。

辨析： some & any

some， any后都可以接可数名词的复数和不可数名词。通常情况下some用于肯定句中，any用于否定句或疑问句中。但some也可以用于表示委婉请求，希望得到肯定回答的问句中。如：

I drink some tea， but I dont have any milk. 我喝些茶，但没喝牛奶。

Would you like some bread？ 你想来点面包吗？

I have some books about math. 我有一些关于数学的书籍。

6. wish v.

wish用作动词， 意为 “希望”，常见搭配：wish to do sth. “希望去做某事”，wish sb. to do sth.“希望某人去做某事”。……
