1. a little 一点;少量

a little意为“一点;少量”，相当于kind of，可以修饰形容词或副词，在句中作状语。a little修饰不可数名词， 意为“有点儿”。如：

I feel a little tired today. 今天我感到有点累。

There is a little water in the glass. 杯子里还有点水。

辨析：a little & little

a little表示肯定意义， 意为“数量虽不多，但是还有一点”;little表示否定意义，意为“数量很少或几乎没有”。如：

There is a little tea in the cup. 茶杯里有点茶。

There is little tea in the cup. 茶杯里几乎没有茶。

2. glasses n. 眼镜

glasses意为“眼镜”时，无单数形式。如：

a pair of glasses 一副眼镜; wear glasses 戴眼镜

【拓展】 glass用作名词，可意为“玻璃”，是不可数名词，没有复数形式;还可指“玻璃杯”，此时为可数名词，其复数形式为glasses。如：

a glass of water 一杯水;two glasses of milk 两杯牛奶;two glasses 两支玻璃杯

3. maybe， may be

maybe用作副词，意为“可能，大概，或许”，在句中作状语，常位于句首，而may be是“情态动词may+be动词”构成，意为“可能是，也许是”，在句中作谓语。如：

She may be at home. = Maybe she is at home. 她可能在家。

It may be her handbag. = Maybe it is her handbag. 或许这是她的手提包。

4. people， person

people作“人”讲时，是集合名词，表示复数概念。表示“一个人”时，不用people。当表示两个以上的人时，可用people。如：twenty people二十个人。

person是个体名词，它泛指man，woman或child中的任何一个，其复数形式是persons，但人们习惯用 people代替persons。 “一个人”常译作a person，而需要说明一个人的性别时，要用a man 或 a woman来表示。如：

Who is the youngest person in your class？ 你们班里年龄最小的人是谁？

There are four people in Jim's family. 吉姆家有四口人。

The person under the tree is of medium height. 樹下这个人中等身高。

【拓展】 people还可译作“民族”，有单、复数之分。如：a people一个民族。

There are 56 peoples in China. 中国有56个民族。

5. each， every

each可作形容词或代词。

（1） 修饰名词单数形式，指个别的人或物，强调个体，谓语用单数。如：

Each day is better than the one before. 一天比一天好。

（2） 表示同一个物体的两个部分。如：

There are many trees on each side of the street. 街道的每一边有许多树。

（3） each of+名词复数形式作主语，意为“众多者中的每一个”，谓语动词用单数形式。如：

Each of my friends gave me presents on my birthday. 在我生日时，我的朋友每人都送了我礼物。

every只能用作形容词，不能作代词。修饰名词单数，着重于全体。如：

Every boy in our class went camping. 班上所有男生都去野营了。

6. another， the other

another通常用于三个以上或不确定数量中的任意一个人或物体，意思是“另一个”“再一个”。如：

I don't like this one. Please show me another. 我不喜欢这一个，请给我看看另一个。

the other指两者中的“另一个”，有特定的数量范围，不是任意的“另一个”。如：

He has two sons. One is a doctor， the other is a driver. 他有两个儿子，一个是医生，另一个是司机。

（1） 此句是用来描述人的相貌的常用句型。表示某人中等个头或中等身材时，其结构为“sb. + be+ of + medium height / build.”。

（2） 表示“某人长着或留着……发时”，只能用have/ has， 其构成为“sb.+ have/ has +... hair.”。

注意：形容头发时，应按照先长短，后曲直，最后颜色的顺序说。如：
