More and more

1. 表示“越来越多的”，用于修饰名词。如：

1） More and more people are moving to the city.（越来越多人向城市搬迁。）

2） More and more money was spent on it.（在这上面花的钱越来越多。）

2. 表示“越来越……”，用于修饰形容词、副词、动词、介词短语等。如：

1） Its becoming more and more difficult to find a job.（找工作越来越困难了。）

2） Were going more and more slowly.（我们越走越慢了。）

3） I worry more and more every day.（我一天比一天担心。）

注意：有时用的可能是普通的比较级形式。如：

1） The weather is getting colder and colder.（天气越来越冷了。）

2） Debbie is growing fast. She keeps getting taller and taller.（戴比长得很快，个子越来越高。）

More or less

1. 表示“或多或少，在一定程度上，大体上”。如：

1） The jobs more or less finished.（这项工作差不多完成了。）

2） Ive more or less finished reading the book.

（我差不多已经把这本书看完了。）

2. 表示“大约，左右”。如：

1） The repairs will cost $50， more or less.（修理费大约要50美元。）

2） It took more or less a whole day to paint the ceiling.

（粉刷天花板用了将近一整天的时间。）

3. 表示“一点也不”，用于否定句中。如：

1） I dont like it， more or less.（我一点也不喜欢。）

2） I didnt understand it， more or less.（我一点也不懂。）

More than

1. 表示“多于”，通常后接数词。如：

1） Ive known him for more than 20 years.（我已认识他二十多年了。）

2） There were no more than a hundred people at the rally[集会].（大概不到一百人参加了集会。）

2. 表示“不只是，不仅仅是”，通常后接名词、动词、从句等。如：

1） His report is more than a survey.（他的报告不只是一份调查。）

2） The result was much more than I imagined.（结果远远超过我的想象。）

3. 表示“极其，非常”，通常后接形容词、副词或分词等。如：

1） She was more than kind to us.（她对我们很友好。）

2） Im more than happy to take you there in my car.（我非常愿意载你过去。）

4. 表示“难以，完全不能”，其后通常连用情态动词 can。如：

That is more than I can understand. =I cant understand that. （那事儿我无法理解。）

No more

1. 表示“也不”。如：

—I cannot understand this at all.（我根本不懂这个。）

—No more can I.（我也不懂。）

2. 表示“不能再多，没有更多的”，表示数或程度。如：

1） I can eat no more.（我不能再吃了。）

2） I have no more to say.（我再沒有什么要说的了。）

3. 表示“不再”，表示时间。如：

Ill go there no more.（我再也不去那里了。）

No more…than

用于两者比较，并且否定两者，其意为“不……也不……，同……一样不”。如：

1） Shes no more a great singer than I am.（我不是优秀歌手，她也不是。）

2） Tom is no more rich than Jack is.（杰克不是有钱人，汤姆也不是。）

Whats more

用于引出更重要的信息，其意为“更重要的，更有甚者，而且”。如：

1） Hes dirty， and whats more he smells.（他很脏，身上还有味儿呢。）

2） They are going to get married， and whats more they are setting up in business together.（他们就要结婚了，而且还要一起做生意呢。）
