Whales And Rainbows

A photographer9 took an amazing photo. It shows a rainbow in the sky above a whale. Rainbows form when sunlight hits drops of water. The water may be rain or fog. It can also be mist10 that comes out of a whales blowhole（鲸鱼头顶的呼吸孔）.

Whales blowholes are like nostrils（鼻孔）. When a whale breathes out， the water vapor（水蒸气）in its breath turns into drops of water. If the light is just right， a rainbow will form there， too.

Although sunlight looks white， it is actually made up of many different colors. When light hits the drops of water， it bends11. It also bounces12 back at you. You can see all the different colors. If the sun is behind you and the water drops are in front， you will see a rainbow.

彩虹鯨鱼

一位摄影师拍下了一张神奇的照片：一只鲸鱼的头顶出现了一道彩虹。我们知道，阳光射向水滴时会形成彩虹，雨或雾都会有同样的效果，甚至是鲸鱼的呼吸孔喷出的水汽。

鲸鱼的呼吸孔类似人类的鼻孔。当鲸鱼呼气时，蒸气遇冷凝结成水。倘若此时光线角度合适，彩虹便会形成。

事实上，白色的太阳光是由不同颜色的光合成的。当光线射向水滴便会被折射及反射，不同的光谱随即会出现。如果阳光在你背后，而水滴在前，就能看见彩虹了。
