We often think of future. We often wonder what the world would be like in a hundred years time.

Think of space： Perhaps a permanent1 station on the moon will have been set up. Perhaps people will be able to visit the moon as tourists. Cheap rockets for space travel will have been developed， permitting2 long journeys throughout the solar3 system. When that time comes， people will be asking holidays in space and visiting other planets. Great progress will have been discovered for the most terrible of all diseases—cancer. Pollution is a problem we must solve. In a hundred years time it will have been controlled.

想想太空会怎样：或许月球上已经建立了一个永久的太空站。或许人们能够作为游客参观月球。会有便宜的火箭被开发出来用作太空旅游，人们也能到达太阳系的深处去长途旅行。当那个时代到来，人们将到太空中度假，参观其他星球。所有疾病中最可怕的癌症的治疗也会有更大的进展。污染是我们必须要解决的一个问题。在一百年内，污染也将会被控制。

All the world will have been developed—even Antarctica4. There will be large cities in Antarctica. We already have supersonic5 flight， but in a hundred years time we will have supersonic land travel as well.

世界上所有地方将得到发展，甚至南极洲。在南极洲将有许多大城市。我们也已经拥有超音速飞机，但是在一百年内我们也将有超音速的陆地旅行。

We will have used up most of earths land to build our cities， so floating6 cities will have been built. The Japanese already have plans for cities of this kind. And there will be cities under the sea. The first of these will have been completed.

我们建造城市将会用尽地球上大部分的土地，所以将会建造悬空城市。日本已经有了这类城市的建造计划。到时候也会有海底城市，这些城市中的首批将已经完成。
