连词是一种虚词，它不能独立充当句子成分，只能起连接词与词、短语与短语或句子与句子的作用。连词是中考必考的语法项目之一。纵观近年来各地区中考英语试题，对连词的考查主要集中在以下几点：

一、考查并列连词的用法

1.表示并列的连词有and、or、either…or、neither…nor、not only…but （also）、both…and、as well as等。其中or、either…or、neither…nor、not only…but （also）等连接主语时，谓语动词与最靠近的主语保持一致；as well as连接主语时，谓语动词与连词前面的主语保持一致；both…and连接主语时，谓语动词用复数形式。例如：

1）His father is a teacher and his mother is a doctor.他的父亲是一位老师，母亲是一位医生。

2）Which do you like better， juice or coffee？果汁和咖啡，你更喜欢哪一个？

3）Not only the students but（also）Mr.Li has lunch at school.不仅学生们，还有李老师都在学校吃午饭。

4）Both New York and London have traffic problems.纽约和伦敦都存在交通问题。

4.引导目的状语从句的连词有so that“以便于”、in order that“为了”、so“以便”等。so that引导的从句的谓语动词多和情态动词can、could、may、might等连用。例如：

2）Speak clearly， so they may understand you.说得清楚些，以便他们能听懂你的意思。

5.引导结果状语从句的连词有so/such…that“如此……以至于”、so that“以致”、so“因此、所以”。在so/such…that结构中，so后接形容词或副词，such后常跟名词或名词短语。但当名词前有many、much、few或little等词修饰时，用so。例如：

温馨提示：though和although不能与but连用，但可以与still，yet等连用。例如：
