The hero, Carl Fredrickson, likes adventurous stories when he was young. At that time, he met an energetic1 and outgoing tomboy named Ellie, discovering they shared the same interest in exploration and both two treated the famed explorer Charles F. Muntz as hero. Ellie once told Carl of her desire to move her house to Paradise Falls in South America. With time going by, Carl and Ellie wed and grow old together in the old house where they first meet. Ellies dream has not come true yet until she passes away.

故事的主人公卡尔·弗雷德从小就迷恋探险故事。孩提时代的他遇到了活力四射的假小子，艾丽。他们志趣相投，都把著名的探险家查尔斯·穆兹奉为偶像。艾丽曾告诉卡尔，她希望有朝一日能将自己的房子搬到南美的“天堂瀑布”去。岁月荏苒，卡尔和艾丽一块儿长大，在他们初次见面的小屋里结为夫妻、并相伴到老。直到艾丽离世，她的梦想也没能实现。

Later the government plans to reconstruct2 the city around Carls house. But Carl refuses to leave the house where he has lots of sweet memories with Ellie. Afterwards, Officer Edith gives Carl a court order to move into a retirement home. Carl comes up with a scheme to keep his promise to Ellie. He creates an airship using tens of thousands of colorful balloons that lift3 his house off its foundations. In this wonderful journey, he is not alone. Because Russell, a Wilderness Explorer trying to earn his final badge4 for “Assisting the Elderly” is hiding outside the door.

After a storm throws them around for a while, they find themselves landing on a great plateau facing Paradise Falls. But there is a large ravine in between. With their body weight allowing Carl and Russell to pull the floating5 house, the two try to walk around the ravine, hoping to reach the falls. As they walk towards Paradise Falls, Russell finds a colorful tropical6 bird named Kevin. They later run into a dog named Dug, whose owner is Charles Muntz. Carl is initially thrilled7 to meet his hero. However, when Carl realizes that Muntz is after Kevin and will kill her. He takes steps to save the bird and escapes with Russell from Muntzs dirigible.

他们在飞行途中遭遇了暴风雨，之后降落在了一个广阔无垠的平地上。对面就是“天堂瀑布”，但面前却横亘着一条深谷。他们用身体拉着飞屋，试图绕过峡谷。一路上，罗素发现了一只五彩斑斓的热带鸟，取名为凯文，之后又遇到了一只名叫道格的狗。而道格的主人正是卡尔的偶像，穆兹。起初，卡尔见到穆兹十分兴奋，但随后便发现穆兹正在寻找凯文，并要杀死它。卡尔想尽千方百计拯救了凯文，并同罗素一同逃出了穆兹的飞船。

As Carl and Russell assist Kevin to seek for her chicks, Muntz and his dogs arrive in his airship. Muntz sets a fire under Carls house, forcing Carl to choose his house over Kevin. Muntz quickly captures8 the bird and flies away. Though Carl successfully gets the house, he has lost Russells favor. When Carl, settling down in his house alone, looks over Ellies childhood scrapbook, a note encourages him to do what is right. Carl determinedly lightens the weight of his house by dumping his furniture, allowing himself to chase after Muntz in his house quickly.

正当卡尔和罗素帮助凯文寻找她的孩子时，穆兹和他的狗追上了卡尔，并放火威胁卡尔交出凯文，否则就烧掉他的房子。穆兹很快捉住了凯文，并逃之夭夭。卡尔虽然保住了房子，却失去了伙伴罗素的帮助。他独自一人坐在小屋里，翻看着艾丽儿时的相册，里面的一张纸条，鼓励了卡尔要做自己认为对的事情。他毅然扔掉了屋里的家具，以减轻飞屋的重量，更快地追上穆兹。

When Carl catches up with Muntz, he firstly saves Russel, but keeps him tied up in the house for his safety. Carl and Dug board the ship and are able to lure the guard dogs away from Kevin to free her. Carl and Muntz duel face to face, while Dug is able to wrest control of the dirigible from Alpha. Russell frees himself and clings to9 a lifeline as he finds the house in a dogfight with biplanes piloted by Muntzs dogs. When Carl shouts for help, Russell distracts10 the pilots and regains11 control of the house to rescue his friends, who are now on top of the airship. After a life-and-death struggle, Muntz falls down the house, never to be seen again, while Carls house drifts off into the clouds.

卡尔追上了穆兹，救出了罗素。但为了安全起见，他把罗素绑在飞屋里。随后，卡尔和道格一起登上穆兹的飞船，将看守凯文的狗引开，救出了凯文。一场决斗随之在卡尔和穆兹间展开。与此同时，道格好不容易控制了穆兹的飞船。这时，罗素也挣脱了捆绑，顺着绳索向上爬去，发现飞屋上正在进行一场激战，而正驾驶飞屋的竟然是穆兹的狗。正当卡尔大呼救命之时，罗素转移飞行员的注意力，重新掌控了飞屋，挽救了此时正在屋顶的朋友们。经过一番殊死搏斗，穆兹从飞屋上坠落，不见了踪影，而卡尔的小屋也跌落云层，不知去向。

Carl takes Muntzs dirigible and returns Kevin to her chicks, then flies with Russell and Dug back to the city. In the Senior Explorer ceremony, Carl fulfills the role himself to proudly present Russell with his final badge, the grape soda cap badge that Ellie gave to Carl when they first met. Afterwards, Carl, reinvigorated in both spirit and body from his adventure, becomes a cheerfully active community volunteer with a strong father-like relationship with Russell and the other Wilderness Explorers. Carl now resides12 in Muntzs airship, his old house has landed exactly where Ellie envisioned it—overlooking Paradise Falls.

卡尔驾驶着穆兹的飞船帮助凯文和她的小鸟得以团聚，最终和罗素、道格一起乘着穆兹的飞船返回了家乡。在探险家颁奖典礼上，卡尔亲自将儿时艾丽送他的紫色汽水瓶盖做的徽章送给了罗素。在这次探险中，卡尔的身心获得了极大的满足，最终也光荣地成了一名社区志愿者，同罗素和其他小荒野探险家们结下了父子般的深厚情谊。此后，卡尔一直居住在穆兹的飞船里，而他与艾丽的爱巢则一直停留在艾丽梦寐以求的地方，俯瞰着“天堂瀑布”的美景。

The story ends up, but in fact all our lives are a kind of adventures, and this adventurous journey need love and trust, perseverance13 and courage. The road of realizing the dream is filled with difficulties as well as legends. Where there is love, there is hope. Where there is dream, there is meaning of life.

故事虽然结束了，但其实，每个人的生活都是一次探险。在这次惊险的旅程中，人与人之间需要爱与信任，也需要坚持和勇气。实现梦想的过程，并非一帆风顺，但总是充满了传奇般的色彩。有爱就有希望，有梦想的人生才是有意义的人生。
