“我”的連心眉曾让“我”感到羞耻。但是,当“我”开始接受它以后,它却像一条道路,开辟了“我”生活的许多其他方面,成为“我”探索自己身份的象征。实际上,每个人都有自己的“连心眉”,一个关于自己到底是谁,属于哪里的生命命题。

I spent my entire life trying to hide from who I was because I had a unibrow. This bothering visual representation on my face was just like a flag that I could not strip away.

I live in New York with my three beautiful girls, Scarlet, Savannah and Celine and my husband Nicolas. I was born and raised in America, but my family are from Iran. So I grew up with this duality(二元性) of my Persian heritage also mixed in with this American culture as Im first?generation. I always grew up with this tension of who I am and where I belong. I always kind of felt different and lonely.

It was not until I became a mother that I faced these things and made up my mind to accept a true myself. If my children didnt see me embracing myself for how I looked, my children would never have the courage to face their  identities because children absorb every single thing that we do.

The experiment started by October for Halloween. That year, I went as Frida for Halloween. I love Frida, an entity, and an energy force that is just so comfortable with who she is. She can have a unibrow. She can have a mustache. She can dress like she wants.

One of my closest friends told me that I had never been more confident. She thinks that I should start an Instagram and talk about this. Also, she has a name for me—My Fierce Brow.

Thats kind of how this evolution started, and very shortly I started to get international press calling me. And, I just couldnt believe that something that I actually did for myself, for my children, would appeal to so many people. I became more comfortable with my weight, pursuing my dreams and sharing and talking about the things that happened to me as a child with my friends and family. I even started to do workshops with teens to talk about embracing ourselves and our identities.

My visual representation was like a pathway that opened up many other aspects of my life. I think the unibrow is just a symbol of an exploration of our own identities for me. Actually, everyone, kind of, has his own “unibrow” story. Its just a matter of finding what that is for you.
