Crosstalk is a kind of Chinese two-person stand-up comedy. Comedy has a comparatively small role, song and dance. The crosstalk comedy was really easy to understand and quite entertaining. As early as the Qin Dynasty, the traditional crosstalk shows had made people all over China roar with laughters for centuries. To the Song Dynasty, there had been many forms and this kind of art had been perfect.

Crosstalk show is very typical for China. The artists play on words, together with body language. They also perform in different forms, such as talking, learning a certain kind of skill, amusing, and tongue twister. Skilled artists make use of all the richness of the spoken language to create a rapid flow of fun. The funny performances always make the audience applaud. In China, there are many famous crosstalk artists, such as Hou Baolin, Hou Yaowen, Niu Qun and Feng Gong, Li Guosheng and Xiao Lin and so on. LONDON—Sheep, like turkeys and ostriches, are not considered the most clever animals. British scientists said last Wednesday humans may have underestimated(低估) the woolly creatures. They could be much smarter than we think.

Researchers at the Babraham Institute in Cambridge, southern England, have shown that the animals have a good memory system and are extremely good at recognizing faces—which they think is a sure sign of intelligence.

Behavioral scientist Keith Kendrick and his friends trained 20 sheep to recognize and distinguish 25 pairs of sheep faces and used electrodes(电极) to measure their brain activity, which showed they could remember 50 faces for up to two years.

“If they can do that with faces, the fact is that they have to have reasonable intelligence, otherwise, what is the point of having a system for remembering faces and not remembering anything else,” Kendrick said in an interview.

So hours of seemingly mindless eating grass may not be so mindless after all.

Kendrick believes sheep got their reputation(名声) as dumb (unable to speak) animals because they live in large groups and do not appear to have much individuality and are frightened of just about everything.

“All animals, including humans, once they are frightened dont tend to show signs of intelligent action,” he explained.

In research reported in the science journal Nature, Kendrick and his team showed that sheep, like humans, have a specialized system in the brain that allows them to distinguish between many different faces, which look extremely similar.

“The most important finding (of the study) is that they are able, both from a behavioral point of view and from looking at the way the brain is organized, to remember a large number of faces of individuals for a very long time,” said Kendrick. “It is a very strange system. They are showing similar abilities in many ways to humans.”

How to protect children Web fans from unsuitable material on-line while encouraging them to use the Internet has long been discussed inU.S.

For some parents the Internet can seem like a jungle, filled with danger for their children. But jungles contain wonders as well as dangers and, with good guides, some education and a few precautions(防范), the wilds of the Internet can be easily navigated(穿越). Kids have to beon-line.

“If we tell our kids they cant have access to the Internet, were cutting them off from their future,” said an expert.

Most kids have started to learn to use search engines. Many of them are great for finding tons of interesting Internet sites, and they can also locate places where you might not want your kids to go. There are search engines designed just for kids. A certain software contains only sites that have been selected as safe. But this cant be wholly reliable, and the best thing parents can do is to talk to their kids and let them know whats OK or not OK to see or do on the Internet. Another way is that mum or dad is nearby when the child is surfing the Internet.

A few other tips:

——Dont put the PC in a childs room but keep it in an area where mum or dad can keep an eye on things. That also makes the Internet more of a family activity.

——Ask your child what he or she has been doing and about any friends they make on-line.

——Tell your child not to give on-line strangers personal information, especially details like address and phone number.

——And tell your children never to talk to anyone they meet on-line over the phone, send them anything, accept anything from them or agree to meet with them unless you go along.
