Tommy, a 13yearoldBrown Swissbull from Cheshire, Massachusetts, wascrowned the world's tallest living bull, measuringan impressive 1.87 meters.

Tommy has been living with the Balawenderfamily on their farm in Cheshiresince he was just one day old, after beingbought for just about $10. It's safe to saythat he is worth a bit more than that today. The Balawender family see him more as amember of the family than an asset, so theyare not considering selling him. BrownSwiss cattle generally have large bodies fordairy cows, but they are considered amediumsizedbreed, which makes Tommysomewhat of a freak of nature. A typicalBrown Swiss cow weighs between 1300and 1400 pounds, while bulls can reach2000 pounds. Tommy weighs about 3000pounds, which makes him heavy even forhis breed, and he has the frame to matchthe weight—1.87 meters.

The previous world's tallest bull was a significantly larger calf than the averageof his breed, but the Balawender familynever expected him to become a GuinnessWorld Record holder one day. Despite hisbig size, Tommy is a gentle giant with acalm and peaceful behavior.

Tommy consumes 30 pounds of drygrain, over 75 pounds of hay, and drinks35-40 gallons of water per day. He is a bigfan of apples, and his master has spent asmall fortune at the local market just tokeep him happy. “Tommy also looks forwild apple trees in the pasture and is so incrediblysmart that he knows how to pushagainst the trees and shake the applesdown,” Laurie Balawender told GuinnessWorld Records.
