Through a megaphone， she reminded people to wear masks and take care of themselves during the Covid-19 pandemic. Yuan Yin is director of the Nanchan Temple Police Station at the Liangxi Branch of the Wuxi Public Security Bureau. She has been recognized with national honors， including a "Class II Model Hero"， an "Outstanding Female Police Officer"， and a "Labor Day Outstanding Female in Jiangsu Province". Additionally， she has been awarded Class III Personal Merits twice.

Yuan has become a well-rounded station chief after serving in multiple posts， capable of handling a wide range of situations in her job. "Let's quickly sort through this [information] and find out where they're hiding." It was late at night， and Yuan was gazing intently at her computer screen with a determined expression. During the "100-day Crackdown" last summer， Yuan led the police in launching operations against telecoms and cyber fraud and street robbery. Yuan and her team meticulously studied cases and developed comprehensive plans to thwart the criminals.

Through their persistent efforts， the police made significant progress in a case of health product fraud that targeted the elderly. Yuan directed a group of experienced police officers to a neighboring province to apprehend the suspected gang of scammers. During the investigation， officers discovered that the suspects were hiding in an apartment building with a narrow entrance that made it difficult to surveil. They had to exercise caution and refrain from alerting the suspects.

At this， Yuan calmly led the police officers in making a sound judgment and developing a meticulous plan. Under her professional command， the arresting officers successfully apprehended the gang， recovering over 5.6 million yuan for the fraud victims. Throughout the "100-day Crackdown" ，Yuan led the police officers in pursuit of criminals， resulting in the arrest of 105 suspects and the resolution of 75 cases of various types.

In her role， Yuan is known for her perseverance and fighting spirit. On one occasion， several residents reported suspicious activity and potential prostitution occurring in small beauty salons and foot massage parlors along Tonghong Road. After obtaining these reports， Yuan secretly investigated the area in her personal time after work. She recorded what she found during the visits and proceeded to develop detailed plans for the upcoming crackdown.

"Where's the business licenses and employee ID cards？ Please produce them！" "There might be hidden rooms behind the walls， let's knock！" ...Yuan led the police in five raids， ultimately resulting in the closure of 11 foot massage parlors that were found to be in violation of relevant laws and regulations.

Winning Spirit

As part of police reform efforts， the Nanchang Street Police Station and the former Nanchan Temple Police Station were merged into the new Nanchan Temple Police Station in June 2020. Following the merger， the Nanchan Temple Police Station's jurisdiction now covers the largest food supply project in Wuxi： Chaoyang Agricultural and Commercial Market. It also covers the famous ancient canal cultural sites such as the Nanchan Temple and Nanchang Street. The area is bustling and the population composition is complex.

Based on the practical situation in the jurisdiction， Yuan， in collaboration with the local police sub-stations and security forces in the scenic tourist area， has implemented a "tide-patrol" mechanism. This approach helps the police to conduct grid patrols at specific times and promotes a combined prevention and control system using foot and mobile patrols. From 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. each day， the focus is on the security of the food supply project and courier services， while from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. the next morning， the focus shifts to the scenic areas. Yuan's approach has improved the visibility and efficiency of public patrols significantly.

Patrolling the streets in person， whenever she can.

During an inspection of a local bar， Yuan reminds the boss： "This fire extinguisher is about to expire， please prepare a new one." Whenever she discovers noise disturbances or other issues， she promptly resolves them and requests violators to correct their behavior. In conflicts and disputes in the neighborhood， she is the first to arrive on the scene to mediate a settlement. She is dedicated to her job， whether during the scorching heat of summer that causes her uniform to become alternately soaked with sweat then bone dry， or during bitter winter nights when her hands and cheeks turn red from the freezing cold.

During a fraud awareness campaign at a women's and children's hospital in the neighborhood， Yuan discovered that a nurse Zhang was considering using an online shopping platform that promised her a quick way to grow her savings by shopping on the app. Due to her sharp judgment， Yuan knew this was almost certainly a scam， and spent over half an hour persuading Zhang to avoid handing over 160，000 yuan to the fraudsters.

Starting in 2022， the Nanchan Temple Police Station's jurisdiction has seen a 20.6 percent reduction in preventable cases and a 19.3 percent reduction in ongoing criminal cases. As a result， public safety， security， and satisfaction have increased significantly.

Never Give Up

"Director Yuan， do drop by my place if you have time！" Mrs. Hu always warmly greets Yuan when she visits the neighborhood. In 2021， due to a renovation project in Wuxi's older districts， over 300 households in the neighborhood were faced with challenges such as relocation and housing resettlement. To address conflicts and disputes in a timely manner， Yuan organized a group consisting of capable and respected senior Party members， cadres， and neighbors， and established the "Three Elders' Council".

One conflict arose among Mrs. Hu's children regarding the distribution of resettlement compensation funds， eventually escalating into a tense dispute. Yuan and members of the Three Elders' Council visited the family multiple times to provide guidance and encourage them to prioritize the value of family ties over short-term monetary gain. Eventually， Mrs. Hu's children were able to reach a settlement and the family happily moved into their new home.

On another visit， Yuan discovered that Uncle Lu， an 80-year-old man， was living alone in Huichangbang Community. She began regularly visiting him and， when it was announced that the community was going to be renovated， she helped Uncle Lu find a temporary residence in a nursing home. Uncle Lu was moved to tears， and often tells people that "Ms. Yuan is like a daughter to me！"

"Director Yuan prefers not to stay confined to her office and instead spends most of her time in the police command room located on the first floor in hopes of rising to emergencies as soon as possible，" one police officer colleague shared with your reporter. "She takes her duties very seriously and regards the public as her own family." Throughout her tenure as director， Yuan has gone above and beyond to provide personalized assistance to 42 individuals in dire need， working tirelessly to address their urgent issues.

In November 2019， a suspect and his wife were both taken into custody during a criminal investigation， leaving their young daughter unattended. Yuan took it upon herself to take care of that little girl， allowing her to stay in her own dormitory at the police station.

Yuan personally saw to it that the girl attended school and was picked up every day until her mother was released on bail pending trial. As the girl waved goodbye to Yuan， calling her "mom"， the onlookers couldn't help but chuckle. "Looks like Director Yuan has gained a new daughter！" one said. Day after day， Yuan's unwavering dedication and kindness continue to earn her the trust and admiration of the community.
