My Favorite Book—Wonder

Couraɡe,kindness,friendship,and character are the qualities that define us as human beings and sometimes propel(激励)us to greatness.I have recently read the English novel calledWonder,which tells an inspiring story of a young boy with a facial defect(缺 陷)called August,who overcomes his difficulties to face life positively.

August had a congenital cleft palate(先天性腭裂)in his mouth,not just his palate,but his jaw(下巴)wasn’t quite right either.His parents took him to the hospital,the doctors and nurses performed an operation on him.They took a bone from his body and put it on his chin to make it look normal,so he didn’t seem weird(奇怪的).Still,it’s painful for him to see people react to his serious facial flaws with expressions of surprise or unintentional remarks,especially if they were hostile(敌对的).But he is a kind-hearted and brave child.Although the road to growing up was very hard,he never gave up.He was also painful and scared.But he started his new school life bravely,facinɡ everyone’s different eyes and some students’ irony(讽刺).His optimistic quality slowly gained a real friendship,and finally ɡained recoɡnition from everyone.

My favorite part isDay One.On that day,August rode the bus for nearly four hours before arriving at the nature reserve at noon.The students put their luggage in the cabin,and went on a two-hour hike.Because of the rain,they returned to the cabin where they had a “wet sock fiɡht”.After a lonɡ time,the rain stopped,and they started a fire to roast marshmallows(烤棉花糖).Finally,exhausted,they returned and fell asleep.I think it was a great day for August to relax and have a good time.

This is a book full of love and warmth.This is a book full of touching and inspiring scenes.This is a kind and brave boy,who is also beautiful in my heart.
