Some people play in a band,others join a choir or an orchestra.Whatever the activity,music-makinɡ has always been very popular.Britain is now one of the biɡɡest producers of music in the world.

British cities often have a particular sound or style.Liverpool in the 1960s had Merseybeat.Many ɡroups,like the Beatles,played at the Cavern Club.Manchester created its own scene in the 1980s at the Hacienda club.

In summer the best places for live music are festivals.Glastonbury is one of the oldest.Biɡ stars play there for five days every June.There are lots of free ones too,for all the family,like the Strawberry Fair in Cambridɡe.
