考生一般对副词做状语很熟悉，对形容词做状语，考生就不一定清楚了。形容词或形容词短语做状语是一种高级结构，这种结构在课本和高考题中时有出现。在高考写作中，我们如能灵活运用这种结构，可为作文增色添彩。

一、形容词或形容词短语做状语的用法

1. 表示原因

说明谓语动作发生的原因，一般位于句首。如：

（1）Exhausted， I slid into bed and fell fast asleep. 我感到累极了，爬上床很快就睡着了。（人教版 Book 5 Unit 3 Reading 1）

（2）Worried about the journey， I was unsettled for the first few days. 由于很担忧这次旅途， 我在开始的那几天很焦虑。（人教版 Book 5 Unit 3 Reading 1）

（3）Older and wiser now， Burchill chalked up the incident to youthful indiscretion（莽撞）. 由于年纪更大了，也更聪明了，博齐尔把这件事归咎为年轻人的莽撞行为。（2021年高考英语全国甲卷完形填空）

2. 表示伴随或心理状态

说明伴随状态或心理状态，通常位于句末。 如：

（1）The following morning， I should again greet the dawn， anxious to discover new delights， new revelations of beauty. 第二天清晨，我要再次迎接黎明，迫切地去探索更多愉悦，发现更多美好。（新外研版选择性必修一Unit 2 Reading 1）

（2）At first I got jammed just above my eyes and then， as I went on with my task， unwilling to quit， my nose briefly prevented entry. 起初，我只是眼睛以上部分被卡住了，當我继续任务时，并不愿意放弃，我的鼻子却阻碍了我头部进入。（2021年1月浙江卷读后续写原文）

3. 表示主语的状态

说明主语所处的状态，通常位于句末。如：

（1）My grandfather returned from the Anti-Japanese War， safe and sound. 我祖父安然无恙地从抗日战争中归来。

（2）They broke into the uncle’s bedroom and found the man lying on the floor， dead. 他们强行冲进叔叔的卧室，发现那个人躺在地板上，已经死了。

二、形容词或形容词短语在读后续写中的应用

1. 2016年10月浙江卷读后续写第1段

Jane，又累又怕，躺在一个石头旁边，想念着远方的家人。

Jane， exhausted and scared， lay down beside a stone， missing her family at a distance.

2. 2016年10月浙江卷读后续写第2段

（1）既渴望又兴奋，简挥舞着她的黄色的衬衫，并不遗余力的喊叫，以引起别人的注意。

Eager and excited， Jane flourished her yellow blouse and spared no effort to yell so as to attract others’attention.

（2）在直升机的帮助下，简安然无恙地走出了森林，见到了她的丈夫。

With the assistance of the helicopter， Jane got out of the forest and saw her husband， safe and sound.
