小伙伴们，大家都已经学过了定冠词“the”，你们可别小看它的作用，英语中，有没有“the”意思可能大不同。今天我们就一起来学习一下吧。

have the time VS. have time

如果有人问你，“Do you have the time？”，可不要误会别人是在约你，这句话不是问“你有时间吗”，真正的意思是问你“现在几点了”，相当于：What time is it？或者是What’s the time？那回答就是具体的时间点，比如：It’s just half past 9.（刚刚九点半。）

问对方有没有时间，用英语表达应该是：Do you have time？这里要注意，少了一个定冠词the， 意思就大不一样了。除此之外，“Do you have a minute？”和“Are you available？”都可以用来问对方有没有空。

in red VS. in the red

“in red”指“穿着红色的衣服”，例句：The girl in red is my sister.（那个身穿红衣服的姑娘是我的妹妹。）同样，“in black”是指“穿着黑色的衣服”，“in pink”是指“穿着粉色的衣服”。

“in the red”的意思就完全不同了，是指“陷入赤字”，例句：The theatre is 500，000 dollars in the red.（剧院负债50万美元。）

by hand VS. by the hand

“by hand”是“手工”的意思，例句：Rice farmers here still plant and harvest their crops by hand.（这里的稻农仍然用手工方式种植和收割庄稼。）

“by the hand”则是“拉着手”的意思，例句：I took my sister by the hand.（我拉着姐姐的手。）

by sea VS. by the sea

“by sea”指的是“海运”，例句：Most exports went by sea.（大部分出口货物走海运。）

“by the sea”则指的是“在海边”，例句：The country is encircled by the sea.（这个国家四面环海。）

in person VS. in the person

“in person”表示“亲自，本人”，例句：You can vote either in person or by proxy.（你可以亲自投票或请人代理。）

“in the person”表示“代表某人”，例句：Help arrived in the person of his mother.（来帮忙的是他的母亲。）

at table VS. at the table

“at table”表示“吃饭，进餐”，例句：He seldom talks at table. （他吃饭时很少说话。）

“at the table”则表示“在桌边”，例句：We sat at the table，talking. （我们坐在桌边谈论。）

in charge of VS.in the charge of

“in charge of”的主語是人，意思是“主管;看管”，例句：Teacher Wang was in charge of our class. （王老师负责我们班级。）

“in the charge of”的主语是物，意思是“由某人负责”，例句：Our class was in the charge of teacher Wang.（我们班级由王老师负责管理。）

out of question VS. out of the question

“out of question”表示“毫无疑问”，例句：The victory is out of question. （胜利是毫无疑问的。）

“out of the question”则表示“不可能的，办不到的”，例句：His coming is out of the question . （他不可能来。）

last week VS. the last week

“ last week”的意思是“现在讲话时之前的那个星期”，例句：I had a cold last week. （我上星期感冒了。）

“the last week”则表达的是“到今天为止的一个星期”，例句：I has had a cold for the last week. （我感冒了一个星期了。）

in case of VS. in the case of

“in case of” 意思是“假使，如果，万一”，例句：In case of fire，ring the alarm. （如有火灾，按火警铃。）

“in the case of”则表示“就……来说”，例句：In the case of a physical change ，no new substance is formed.（就物理变化来说，没有新的物质产生。）

由以上的例子我们可以看出，英语中带不带定冠词“the”，意思可能大不同哦。
