单纯天真的海妖卢卡第一次脱离海面来到陆地，变成了人类的样子，人类的一切事物都使卢卡充满好奇与向往。卢卡跟着阿尔贝托学习走路，去参观阿尔贝托的家，把阿尔贝托当成大哥哥一样崇拜。他俩有一个梦想，就是拥有一辆摩托车去环游世界！

《夏日友晴天》的导演，也是最开始对故事灵感做出巨大贡献的人—埃里康·卡萨罗萨表示，作为一名成长于意大利西北部地中海海港的少年，他想以此片铭记那些美好的童年时光和玩伴们，所以取景就在美丽的意大利小镇里维埃拉，其重要的灵感来源是此处的世界文化遗产—五渔村。

为了最大限度还原小镇的环境，制作人员曾经在夏季两次到访五渔村，为的就是观察海洋和植被在夏季的光影、色彩变化。虽然小镇主要的元素来自五渔村的五个村特色，像韦尔纳扎的广场、马纳罗拉的山丘形态、科尔利亚的小巧、奥马焦雷的红房子，但也融入了意大利其他小镇的特色，像热那亚海滨的卡莫利、泰拉罗等一些著名的地方。因此，动画中的“波多卢索小镇”就这样形成了。此外，《夏日友晴天》的画面中多次出现与经典电影《罗马假日》相呼应的场景，仿佛是一场跨世纪的对话。
