【词语精讲】

1. meat n.

meat是不可数名词，意为“肉”。例如：

There is some meat in the basket. 篮子里有一些肉。

【友情提示】 表示“肉”的不可数名词还有：mutton羊肉;beef 牛肉;pork 猪肉;chicken鸡肉等。例如：

I want to have beef noodles for lunch. 午饭我想吃牛肉面。

2. potato n.

potato意为“土豆”，其复数形式为potatoes。例如：

Hed like to buy some potatoes in the supermarket. 他想要去超市里买一些土豆。

【友情提示】以-o结尾的名词变复数形式的规则：

（1） 多数加-es构成复数形式，特别是一些常用词汇。例如：

tomatoes， heroes （英雄），mosquitoes （蚊子）。

（2） 下面几类以-o结尾的名词只加-s：

●以“元音+o”或“oo”结尾的词。例如：

videos， radios， bamboos， kangaroos。

●关于音乐方面的词或一些外来词。例如：

pianos， solos （独唱）。

●一些缩写词和专有名词。例如：

kilos， photos， Eskimos （爱斯基摩人）， Filipinos （菲律宾人）。

3. special n. & adj.

special 用作名词时，意为“特价;特色菜”，常用于通过广告宣传的“大减价”。例如：

We have some great specials. 我们有一些很好的特色菜。

special用作形容词时，意为“特殊的;特别的;专门的”。其副词形式为specially，意为“特别地”。例如：

It is a special day today and I buy a gift specially for you. 今天是一个特殊的日子，我特意给你买了一件礼物。

4. yet adv.

yet意为“还;仍然”，多用于否定句和疑问句，谈论尚未发生但可能发生的事。例如：

—Have they been to visit you yet？  他们来看过你吗？

— Just once. 就一次。

The worst of the storm is yet to come. 最猛烈的暴风雨就要来了。

5. lucky adj.

lucky意为“幸运的;吉祥的”，它的名词形式是luck，副词形式是luckily。例如：

He is a lucky dog. 他是个幸运的家伙。

Tom is lucky enough to get the last chance to study abroad. 汤姆足够幸运得到最后一个留学的机会。

Luckily， were here to change all that. 幸运的是，我们现在就来改变这一切。

6. bowl n.

bowl意为“碗”，a bowl of... 意为“一碗……”，表示复数概念时，把bowl变为复数形式即可。例如：

Mary only eats a bowl of porridge for breakfast. 玛丽早餐只喝一碗粥。

There are two bowls of rice on the table. 桌子上有两碗米饭。

【友情提示】冠词 / 数词 + 容器名称 + of + 名词，此结构常用来表示不可数名词的量。例如：

a bottle of water一瓶水;a glass of milk一杯牛奶;a cup of tea一杯茶;a piece of paper一张纸。

7. fish n. & v.

（1） fish作名詞，意为“鱼”时，是可数名词，单复数同形用来指同类的多条鱼，其后加-es指不同种类的鱼;fish意为“鱼肉”时，是不可数名词。例如：

I have three fish at home. 我家里有三条鱼。

There are many fishes in the sea. 大海里有各种各样的鱼。

I had fish for dinner. 晚餐我吃的鱼肉。

（2） fish作动词时，意为“钓鱼”，常用于短语go fishing，意为“去钓鱼”。例如：

We often go fishing on weekends. 我们经常在周末去钓鱼。

8. answer n. & v.

answer表示“回答”，既可用作名词又可用作动词。

（1） answer作名词时，表示问题的答案，应与介词to连用，即the answer to... 表示“……的答案”。例如：

I dont know the answer to the question. 我不知道问题的答案。

（2） answer作动词时，表示回答（问题）。其反义词为ask。例如：

The question is simple enough to answer. 这个问题很简单，容易回答。

【友情提示】 answer 除表示“回答”外，还可表示接听电话或对门铃等声响作出反应等（常与telephone， door， bell， doorbell 等连用）。例如：

Who answered the telephone？ 谁接的电话？

A little girl answered the door. 一个小女孩应声去开门。

Nobody answered my call for help. 没有人理会我的呼救。

9. different adj.

different意为“不同的”，其反义词为same，其副词形式为differently。例如：

They are in the same school， but in different grades. 他们在同一所学校，但是在不同的年级。

10. candy n.

candy意为“糖果”，指我们平常所吃零食。例如：

His pockets are all full of candy. 他的口袋全装满了糖果。

【拓展】 sugar指“白糖;蔗糖”; sweet则指“甜品;甜点”，另外它还可以用作形容词，意为“甜美的”。sweet指糖果时可以和candy 互换使用。

【难句在线】

—What kind of noodles would you like？ 您要哪种面条？

—Id like the beef noodles. 我想要牛肉面。

（1） What kind of... would you like？是用來询问想要什么类型。kind表示“种类”，what kind of 哪种;a kind of 一种;all kinds of 各种各样的。例如：

What kind of hamburgers do you want？ 你想要哪种汉堡？

（2） beef 是名词作定语，修饰名词noodles。通常作定语的名词不用复数形式，也不随主体名词的单复数的变化而变化。例如：

There is an apple tree in front of the house. 房子前有棵苹果树。→ There are apple trees in front of the house. 房子前有些苹果树。

但如果是man或woman作定语时，其单复数的变化应和主体名词单复数的变化一致。试体会：

We still need a woman worker. 我们仍然需要一名女工。→We still need some women workers. 我们仍然需要一些女工。
