江苏 陈虹秀Original play crowned the gold medal

After months of careful preparations and intense competitions, the Sixth Annual “Self-protection” Drama Competition, a city-wide competition has come to an end in Zhenjiang Zhongshan Road Primary School. The wonderful performance given by Jiangsu Province Yangzhong Senior Middle School came out first among the 19 competing teams.

Based on two guiding principles—original plots with skillful self-protection approaches, as well as morals with profound educational significance, the award-winning play “Breaking the Internet Addiction”, describes a boy, who is previously glued to the phone games, successfully gets rid of the Internet addiction. His parents, teachers, and friends constantly keep him company and give him warmth and help. Most importantly, his long-lost dream of becoming a doctor makes a comeback, guiding him towards a bright future.Featuring its originality（独创性）， and based on a true story, the plot of the play itself also accounts for its success. Last but not least, stu dents' outstanding performance on stage brought a lot of laughter and tears, winning thunderous applause and wide recognition among the audience.

“The winner goes to Jiangsu Province Yangzhong Senior Middle School! ” declared one of the judges. He also added, “Their striking advantage lies not only in their true-to-life performance, but also in its educational influence. Internet addiction has always been a big and hard nut to crack for us, but this play provides a new perspective. Students are awakened to find their inner dreams, because once your heart is occupied with dreams, there is no space for any sort of temptations.”

For students, kids and adolescents alike,sense of self-protection and approaches to it are of great importance, which is the foundation for their future development. This competition offers a great platform for students to reflect, create,and play, meanwhile appealing to students to live wisely and work hard for their dreams.

医院平台，“泓涵”志愿

江苏 周 枫Passage 1 Roses given,fragrance lingers in hand

Students in Honghan Class, Yuqi Senior High School, Wuxi, were scheduled to do voluntary work in a local hospital on National Day holiday. In salute to the 71st birthday of our mother country, Frank, founder and leader of Honghan Class, has organized the voluntary work in our local hospital where 50 volunteers from five high schools participated. Occupied and busy as they were, they served the people coming to the hospital heart and soul. Not only did they put what they have learnt into action by doing a favor for people in need, but also they appealed to recipients of favor to pay the favor forward.

Helping others in hospital is like an invisible bond which connects everyone together and enables kindness to widely spread in the surrounding community. One of the students Horace mentioned, “We have done our part and tried our best to make a difference to change the world for the better by volunteering. We believe‘Roses given, fragrance lingers in hand’.”

Passage 2 All happens in Honghan Class

October 7, 2020

Dear diary,

I'm so happy today as I worked as a volunteer to a hospital near my school. My duty was to direct the way, standing in front of Department of Stomatology（口腔学） for more than two hours. A short while later, a couple came towards me. It turned out that they had lost their way to Department of Ophthalmology （眼科学）and then I led them to their destination.

“Here's Department of Ophthalmology,” I said, pointing at the ophthalmology clinic.

“Thank you so much.” Their faces were beaming with gratitude, just like a ray of sunshine in autumn.

“Don't mention it. May you get well soon.”I smiled back and then waved goodbye to them.As the old saying goes, the rose in her hand, the flavor lingers in mine. With a red volunteer vest and a league member's badge gleaming brightly on my chest, I felt really proud to be a volunteer to help others.

At the final stage of the activity, we attended a lecture about CPR. It's significant for us students to master the skill of CPR so that we can rescue someone in time of emergency. We all had a chance to practise CPR. The process was really difficult, during which I just couldn't imagine how the doctors can constantly do this for several hours. So great are the doctors that they bear a heavy burden going straight to the resuscitation room, fighting against death to save a life. As life is so short, we are supposed to treasure every single second and every single person we meet.

After this activity, all of us felt delighted and were thankful for this unforgettable experience.
