由why引导的特殊疑问句句式结构为“特殊疑问词why + 一般疑问句（肯定 / 否定疑问句）”。 其中why是副词，意为“为什么”。具体用法如下：

why引导的特殊疑问句可用来询问具体的、特殊的原因，相当于“what... for”。答语通常为以because开头的陈述句。如：

1. —Why do you open the window？ = What do you open the window for？ 为什么你们开着窗户？

—Because we need more fresh air. 因为我们需要更多的新鲜空气。

2. —Why can't you swim？  你为什么不会游泳？

—Because it is difficult.  因为它很难。

3. —Why do they keep running？ 为什么他们一直奔跑？

—Because they want to win the race. 因為他们想赢得比赛。

why引导的特殊疑问句还可以用来向他人提出建议。其肯定回答常用“Good idea.”“That sounds great.”等。否定回答常用“I'm afraid not.”。如：

1. —Why not go to the movies？ 你为什么不去看电影呢？

—Good idea！ 好主意！

2. —Why don't you play football？ 为什么不踢足球呢？

—I'm afraid I can't. I must clean my bedroom. 恐怕不行，我必须打扫我的卧室。
