Good morning， everyone. Its my honor to give a short speech titled “Protecting wild animals”.  As is known to us， large numbers of wild animals have been killed for their meat， fur and other parts of their bodies because human beings can make a huge profit from them. Consequently， many species either died out outright or became endangered.

As a matter of fact， wild animals benefit us a lot. For example， as a large predator， tigers play an important role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. Every time we protect a tiger， we protect around 25，000 acres of forest—forests that sustain wildlife and local communities and supply people around the world with clean air， water， food， and products. Therefore， it is significant to protect wild animals.

It is everyones duty to protect wildlife. As for me， I have joined an organization whose aim is to call on people to protect wild animals and several activities have been launched for wildlife protection.

Last Sunday， I went to our community with my friends to give the people there a speech about how to protect our environment. 2. sizes 考查名词。根据该空前的all shapes可知，此处指的也是复数含义。语境：朋友可以是形形色色的。

3. a 考查冠詞。at a distance意为“相距遥远”。

4. based 考查过去分词。语境：在共同的历史和利益基础上有一种特殊的联系。be based on... 意为“以……为根据”，过去分词作后置定语。
