Ancient Egyptians（古埃及人）believed that the soul（灵魂）could return（重返）if the body was preserved（保存）. So they created（发明）a way to preserve the bodies.

First， they put the bodies into salt water. After 40 days， they took out the bodies to dry. Then， they filled the bodies with spices（香料）. Finally， they wrapped（包裹）the bodies with cloth（布）.
