[摘 要]鲁迅、周作人兄弟翻译的《域外小说集》是文学翻译史上的一次突破，具有开创性意义。在《域外小说集》中，鲁迅翻译的现代性主要体现在选材、选用文体、翻译手法三个方面。《域外小说集》中鲁迅翻译的现代性不仅在很大程度上影响了鲁迅后来的翻译与文学创作，对当时的文学界也产生了一定影响。

The modernity of Lu Xuns translation in The Collection of Short Stories Overseas and its impact

Abstract：The translation of The Collection of Short Stories Overseas by Lu Xun and Zhou Zuoren is a breakthrough in the history of literature translation with pioneering significance. The modernity of Lu Xuns translation in The Collection of Short Stories Overseas is mainly embodied in the material selection，stylistic form of works and approach of translation. The modernity of Lu Xuns translation in The Collection of Short Stories Overseas has not only influenced his later translation and literature creation to a dramatic degree but also the literary world at the time to some extent.

鲁迅、周作人兄弟于1909年3月和7月在日本出版的《域外小说集》第一、二册，是近代中国文学史上的一座丰碑，文学翻译史上的一次突破，体现了极具历史开创性意义的现代性。正如其好友许寿裳先生的评论：“……刊行《域外小说集》，相信这也可以转移性情，改造社会的。他们所译偏于东欧和北欧的文学，尤其是弱小民族的作品，因为它们富于挣扎、反抗、怒吼的精神。……（译文）字字忠实，丝毫不苟，无任意增删之弊，实为译界开了一个新时代的纪念碑。”[1]杨连芬亦评论道，《域外小说集》“以系统，直译的风格和明确的思潮意识，宣告了中国文学翻译 ‘林纾时代的结束，标志着文学翻译规范化、学术化的来临”[2]。相对来说，钱玄同从正反两方面的评价更为客观：“周氏兄弟那时正译《域外小说集》，志在灌输俄罗斯、波兰等国之崇高的人道主义，以药我国人卑鄙、阴险、自私等等龌龊心理，他们的思想超卓，文章渊懿，取材严谨，翻译忠实，故造句选辞，十分矜慎……所以《域外小说集》不仅文笔雅驯，且多古言古字，与林纾所译之小说绝异。
