前情提要：没有按时交作业的亚瑟第二天早晨要去校长办公室，他很害怕。晚上，亚瑟做噩梦了。他梦见自己来到了酸黄瓜世界，还被酸黄瓜警察追赶。危急之下，朵拉救了他。然后，他们来到了酸黄瓜镇……

“Look!” said D.W. “A pickle steeple!”

“Look!” said Arthur. “Pickle people!”

“看！”朵拉说，“酸黄瓜屋顶！”

“看！”亚瑟说，“酸黄瓜人！

“Didn’t do his homework!” said Pickle Nose.

“Lied that he did!” said Pickle Toes.

“他没有写完作业！” 酸黄瓜鼻子先生说。

“You’re going to jail, and absolutely no bail! ” shouted Judge Picklepuss.

The jailer put Arthur on a pickle diet, and every day he said, “Just try it.”

“Let me out! Don’t be so mean. I’ve had it,”moaned Arthur. “I’m turning green.”

“放我出去！你们这些坏蛋！我受够了！”亚瑟大喊，“我都快变成酸黄瓜了！”

Suddenly, Arthur woke up.

He went to his desk, opened his book, and did his homework.

突然，亚瑟醒了过来。

他走到书桌前，翻开书本，写起作业来。

At school, Arthur went right to the principal’s of fi ce.

“I cannot tell a lie,” he said.

“My dog did not eat my homework.

I did not do my homework.

But here it is now. I’m sorry.”

The principal smiled. “Well, thank you, Arthur,” he said.

第二天一早，亚瑟来到校长办公室。

“我不该说谎，”他说，“我的小狗没有吃掉我的作业，是我自己没有做作业，不过现在已经做完了。对不起。”

“很好，谢谢你，亚瑟。”校长微笑着回应。

Arthur felt great all day, until he asked,

“What’s for dinner?” and Dad said,“Pickled cabbage!”

整整一天，亚瑟都很开心，直到晚饭时候，他问爸爸：“我们吃什么？”

“酸白菜！”爸爸回答。
