I heard a thousand blended notes，

While in a grove I sate reclined，

In that sweet mood when pleasant thoughts

Bring sad thoughts to the mind.

To her fair works did Nature link

The human soul that through me ran;

And much it grieved my heart to think

What man has made of man.

Through primrose tufts， in that green bower，

The periwinkle trailed its wreaths;

And？蒺tis my faith that every flower

Enjoys the air it breathes.

The birds around me hopped and played，

Their thoughts I cannot measure： —

But the least motion which they made

It seemed a thrill of pleasure.

The budding twigs spread out their fan，

To catch the breezy air;

And I must think， do all I can，

That there was pleasure there.

If this belief from heaven be sent，

If such be Nature？蒺s holy plan，

Have I not reason to lament

What man has made of man？

威廉·华兹华斯（William Wordsworth，1770—1850）是“湖畔派”诗人的重要代表。华兹华斯关于自然的诗歌，优美动人，其突出特点就是寓情于景，情景交融。这首《写于早春》诗风清丽而略含忧伤。诗人用细腻轻柔的语言描写自然的和谐与欢乐，鲜花、鸟雀、嫩芽，这些最细微的自然之景在诗人笔下是如此曼妙美好。然而如果早春的情愫仅仅是欢畅，固然美丽，却也未免单薄。诗人在早春的思想里，沟通了自然与灵魂;从万物的欢乐中，诗人想到了人间的痛苦和悲伤，诗中充满控诉的无奈。
