I.Teaching material

Position and content:

The first period of Unit 11 ,which is about the usage of the simple past tense .The tense is the basis of the whole unit .

II. Teaching aims

1.Understand some phrases of this unit:

go for a walk , ride a horse , milk a cow ,etc correctly ;

2.Master the simple past tense and its rules ;

3.Try to remember irregular verbs ;

4.Try to describe the past .

The usage of the simple past tense .

How to use the simple past tense .

VI. Teaching process

Step 1.  Revision

What do you do on your weekend ?

I usually (do my homework/go shopping...)

Step 2. Leading in

(1). Play the song 《Old Macdonald  Had a Farm》 to lead into the place----on the farm ;

(2). New words and phrases

go for a walk     milk a cow    ride a horse

Feed chickens    talk with a farmer   take some photos

Step 3. Presentation

According to Carol and her friends activities last week ,know about the simple past tense.

A.含義 :表示过去某一时刻发生的动作或存在的状态;表示过去某一时间段经常或反复发生的动作。

B.用法:动词变为过去式。

C.动词过去式的变化:规则变化和不规则变化。

Step4. Practice

A. Work on 1a

Match the phrases with the pictures.

(1).went for a walk      e

(2).milked a cow     b

(3).rode a horse     a

(4).fed chickens      c

(5).talked with a farmer     f

(6).took some photos     d

B. Listening (Work on 1b )

C. Do exercises to understand what we have learnt this lesson.

A.Remember the irregular verbs in this lesson.

B.Tell your family what you did at school.
