There are many forests in Russia. Traditional houses there are all made of wood； and almost everything in the houses is made of wood， too. There are two main kinds of houses. One is made of wooden logs1， and the other is made of wooden boards. All the houses there face south.

俄罗斯有很多森林，因此那里的传统的房屋都是用木头做的，并且房子里几乎所有的东西也都是用木头做的。那里主要有两种式样的房屋：一种是由圆木做的，另一种是用木板做的。那里所有的房子都朝南。

The roofs of the wooden houses there are in herringbone2 shape. It often snows in winter in Russia， so the roof in that shape makes it easier for snow to fall from it. The top of house is an attic3 to store things. Children can often play in the attic. Usually， there are 4 or 5 steps in front of the house. The house there has 3 or 4 rooms. The floor of the house is also made of wood. Under the house is a basement4. It can store a lot of things， such as vegetables， fruit， meat， fish and so on. The windows of the house usually face south. Around the house is a courtyard which is surrounded5 by wooden fences.

俄羅斯木屋的屋顶都建成“人”字形状。因为冬天常常下雪，所以这样的屋顶使屋顶的雪更容易滑落下去。房屋的顶部是一个阁楼，是来存储东西的。孩子们经常在阁楼上玩耍。通常在房子前面有四五级台阶。那里的房屋一般都有三四个房间。房屋的地板也是木制的。房屋的下面是一个地下室，它可以用来储存很多东西，如蔬菜、水果、肉、鱼等等。房子的窗户通常朝南。房屋周围是一个院子，用木栅栏围着。
