【摘要】英语作为一门语言的学习向来要求学生从听说读写译这几个方面共同积累知识、掌握技能，作为一种沟通的工具，它今后才能普遍地应用到实践当中。然而目前我国大部分学生处于“哑巴英语”的状态，为了改变这个不利的现状，从英语专业本科生入学开始，我院外语系就注重培养学生的听说综合能力。英语言说的能力就是他们的口语水平的最好体现。提高英语口语需要从多个方面着手，最基础的便是要注重严抓学生语音语调的质量。本论文将结合具体实践经验来探讨如何保证本科英语专业一年级学生语音语调的质量。

【Abstract】As a language study， English always requires students to have all the basic skills like listening， speaking， reading， writing and translation. All of these different aspects can help students to accumulate knowledge and master techniques. As a communication tool， English can be universally put into practice in the future. However， at present the majority of the students is in a “mute English” state. In order to change this unfavorable situation， from the starting semester of our colleges English majors， we concentrate to improve their listening and speaking abilities. The speaking ability is the best embodiment of their oral performance. To improve their oral performance， there are many different aspects. The most basic one is to focus on their pronunciation and intonation. This paper is connected with the authors personal experience to discuss how to guarantee the quality of pronunciation and intonation of the first year English majors.

英语语音的学习包括音素的发音、音节、语音的节奏规律和语调等诸多方面。根据对我国英语专业学生目前英语口语能力较差的一些原因的分析，可以看出重视学生语音语调质量问题的紧迫性与必要性。任素贞在谈到语言学家对国外大量听力教材进行仔细研究的结果时，提到几乎所有教材都忽视了对听力语言本质特征的认识，如辩音，对快读的理解，对连读、弱读、重音的理解等。

中国学生的英语学习一般从小学阶段就开始了，到他们进入大学的时候已经接触英语十年左右了，然而英语的口头表达能力却明显滞后于书写能力。由于长期应试教育的负面影响，学生片面追求在考试中取得好的成绩，而试卷的答题模式无法全面测试学生的口语表达能力，因而准确的英语发音成了学生学习过程中的薄弱环节。……
