It is/was ...

It is no use crying for the spilt milk.

It is very kind of you to offer your seat to me.

It is high time that I went to expect my friend.

It is the second time that Kate has visited the Summer Palace.

It was ten days since John had left Shanghai for San Francisco.

It wasnt until nearly a month later that I received the managers reply.

It is considered that Abraham Lincoln is one of the greatest presidents in American history.

[It is/was+名词/形容词+动名词短语]

It is very nice meeting you.

It was pleasant and comfortable sitting here.

[It is/was+形容词/名词+of/for sb.+动词不定式短语]

It is friendly of Liu Wei to help the old woman find her home.

It is a good idea for you to go out for a walk.

It is generally considered unwise to give a child whatever he or she wants.

[It is/was+过去分词/名词/形容词+主语从句]

It was true that Tom had been in prison for several years.

It is reported that the injured are being well treated in hospital.

He hasnt slept at all for three days. It is no wonder he is tired out.

Abraham Lincoln is considered to be one of the greatest presidents in American history.

[It is/was some time+since从句]

It is three months since I came to this school.

主句中的is和was分别可以用has been和had been代替。如：

It has been three months since I came to this school.

It had been ten days since John had left Shanghai for San Francisco.

It was seven months since Mary had been married.

It is five years since Mike worked in the south of China. ……
