National Watermelon Day is on August 3. Sweet and tasty watermelons are one of summers favorite fruit. It is over 90% water and very good for picnics. People can enjoy the flavor and coolness of the fruit after eating dry food. It is a very important holiday because my family loves watermelon so much. I think this holiday was made by an agricultural organization， or a wild and crazy watermelon fan.

VJ Day is celebrated on August 14， August 15 and September 2. It means the end of WWII， and the cessation of fighting against Japan. It is called “Victory In Japan Day” or “Victory Over Japan Day”.

Many people dont know what date is VJ Day. You can consider any （or all） of three dates as VJ Day. On August 14， 1945， the Japanese government told the U.S. that they failed and were going to stop the war.On August 15， 1945， that news was reported to the world. That made the final ending of World War II. On September 2， 1945， a formal party was held in Tokyo Bay aboard the USS Missouri. At the time， President Truman said September 2 to be VJ Day.

National Marshmallow Toasting Day is always on August 30. During eleven out of the twelve months of the year， we enjoy a wide range of holidays. When we get to August， there is a major shortage of big holidays to celebrate. Perhaps that is why many Europeans take the month of August off for vacation.

Enjoy today or tonight by a campfire， toasting a big， soft and sweet marshmallow. Summer would not be the same without a campfire and this great campfire food. Summer is hot but good. Toast a marshmallow and forget about everything else.
