小說以中国的文革时期（Chinas Cultural Revolution）为背景，一个秘密军事组织开展了一项神秘计划，即通过向太空发射信号试图与外星人建立联系。一个濒于灭绝的外星文明收到了信号，企图侵略地球。同时，地球上也开始形成不同的军事组织，他们各怀异心，有的认为地球文明已经腐败不堪，想要对那些外星高等生物拱手欢迎，帮助他们占领地球。有的则想要抵御外星人的侵略。

The book was published in 2008 and became one of the most popular science fiction novels in China. It received the Chinese Science Fiction Galaxy Award in 2006. A film adaptation of the same name will be on in July 2016.
