导读：第三届年度科学、技术、工程与数学近况活动在白宫建筑群的艾森豪威尔行政办公楼举行，少年记者Liliana Scott有幸参加了这个活动。

The third annual State of Science， Technology， Engineering， and Math （SoSTEM） event took place at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in the White House Complex. I had the chance to attend the event.

Before SoSTEM started， I interviewed NASA Administrator Major General Charles Bolden. Bolden is a former astronaut who has been to space four times. He works closely with NASA employees， “I enjoy watching young people take their ideas and turn them into reality，” he said.

Next I spoke to Dr. Ellen Stofan， Chief Scientist for NASA. She spoke about her lifelong interest in science. “When I was in elementary school， I knew I wanted to be a scientist， but I was not sure what kind，” she told me. Since her father worked for NASA， she decided to study rocks in space. Her advice to young people who want to become a scientist is to “follow your passion.”

Finally， I interviewed Kathy Pham， a computer scientist for U.S. Digital Service who is working to improve health care for more Americans through IT services. I asked her advice for young people who want to pursue the career in computer science. She advised kids to “get involved in groups working on science and technology and to read up on the subject.”
