It is an appropriate choice to create the BRICS New Development Bank, because it signifi es reorganization of the international economic and monetary system, which obviates over-dependence on the U.S. dollar. The new bank will consolidate the fi nancial independence of several states and stimulate the economic revival of many developing countries, especially in Africa.

The BRICS nations command great force. I advise them to cooperate with the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States(CELAC), as the New Development Bank, a fruit of the Brazil meeting, is part of its endeavors to promote peace, progress, and peaceful cooperation among nations.

I am impressed with the article “The New Maritime Silk Road, a Historic Choice” that showcases Quanzhous history, current development, and prospects. The city was formerly one of great importance at the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road. In earlier times the Silk Road witnessed extensive business and cultural exchanges among various countries. Today, a new strategic conception has been mapped out. Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for joint development of the New Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, emphasizing that the related countries constitute a community geared to mutual benefi t and common prosperity.

The two routes are expected to give full play to existing advantages of political trust, geographical proximity, and complementary economy by enhancing international cooperation and promoting economic growth. As economic globalization deepens and regional economic integration accelerates, Asian and European countries along the two routes that are at a vital stage of economic transformation need to step up their development and cooperation. The two new routes may open up new opportunities for such countries, and at the same time show the world that Chinas rise comes at no cost to other nations interests.

All the Cross-Cultural Familiarity stories are touching in presenting the growing people-to-people exchanges between China and the world. The ancient Chinese saying, “amity between peoples holds the key to sound relations between states,” cited by Chinese President Xi Jinping on different diplomatic occasions, demonstrates the importance and necessity of non-governmental exchanges. Late Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai initiated the diplomatic principles of encouraging non-offi cial exchanges that lead the way to and facilitate offi cial exchanges, and of enhancing governmental exchanges in concert with people-to-people contacts. They have created a favorable diplomatic environment for China and contributed to the countrys key role in international affairs. Today, China attaches great importance to cooperation and mutual benefi ts, tolerance and mutual learning, as well as to joint safeguarding of global equity and justice.

The diplomatic concepts that successive Chinese leaders have advocated, and Chinas sincerity, have won the nation greater support and friendship. China, as it integrates into global development, strives to create more global opportunities through its own progress. I believe that China holds surprises yet in store for the world.
